A Berta Bride for an Ultra-Chic Vegan Jewish Wedding at Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem, Israel

10/08/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem_0003
This Jewish wedding is just SO wonderfully chic. It also happens to be 100% vegan. Sara and Ronen, animal lovers and ethical vegans, planned the whole affair with zero animal products in sight. Everything from the menu to the attire was plant-based through and through.

That’s no easy feat — especially when it comes to finding a fab gown with no silk. But Sara pulled it off and then some. We absolutely adore her sexy, ultra-feminine dress from Berta Bridal (the eponymous designer of which just so happens to be Israeli!). Ronen looks pretty snazzy in his wool-free suit, himself.

Despite the marked absence of meat from the festive meal, venue Mamilla Hotel’s plant-based food service got rave reviews from nearly all the guests — many told the couple afterward it was the best wedding food they’d ever had!

We love that Sara and Ronen weren’t afraid to stay true to themselves and their values on their big day — and love even more that it paid off!

The other awesome thing about this wedding? The view. The rooftop of the stunning Mamilla Hotel, where the couple held their breathtaking ceremony, just happens to overlook Jerusalem’s fabled Old City, and the skyline is just BEYOND.

It doesn’t get much better than this — and the setting was extra meaningful to the couple, since Ronen grew up in Jerusalem. You’ve GOT to check out Ori Carmi‘s dazzling photos and Idan Hershko’s outstanding video of the day.

Now over to Sara…

A Jerusalem Wedding

Sara, the bride: My husband, Ronen, and I got engaged in Tel Aviv, Israel, in May of 2017, but his original plan was to propose at the rooftop restaurant of the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem. That plan was foiled by the US president’s visit, and we all had to leave Jerusalem. But once we were engaged, we decided to be married there.

Ronen grew up in Jerusalem and felt it was like coming full circle to be born and then married with the Old City as the backdrop. I had only been to the venue once, in the winter when the roof was enclosed. I did all the planning off of a few photos and a FaceTime walk-through with my boss, who was visiting the winter before our date.

A Berta Bride for a Hi-Tech Forest-Themed Jewish Wedding at Lago, Tel Aviv, Israel

16/03/2018 by Karen

Jewish-wedding-Lago-Tel-Aviv-Israel
Nature meets up-to-the-minute technology in today’s breathtaking Israeli Jewish wedding. Shirin, a teacher, and Shai, an engineer, joined their passions for the outdoors and for the latest in multimedia design. The Tel Aviv-based couple chose to wed at Lago, a gorgeous contemporary venue (named for the beautiful lake on the property) that pairs spectacular outdoor scenery with an indoor space equipped with 3-D video mapping technology.

Designer Hilit Gordon loaded the space with oodles of verdant greens and white florals–we’re talking about some truly massive arrangements here–for a forest chic vibe, with stunning boughs of greenery hanging from the ceiling in a super sophisticated touch.

As if all that weren’t dramatic enough, the venue’s tech capabilities meant that the couple were able to have a fab VJ, Gil Valdman, project a custom-designed image of a forest on the walls with the 360 ° video mapping. What a cool surprise for the guests as they walked into the hall after the ceremony!

This couple’s story really highlights the difference a great planner can make in crafting an amazing day (without making yourself crazy in the process!). Shirin and Shai quickly decided to turn to a wedding planner to help them realize their vision, and they found the perfect match in Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Naama Raicher.

Along with her colleague Yael Kfir Frumkes, Naama helped the couple work out all the details to make their hi-tech forest fantasy come true. According to Shirin, Naama and Yael made the process relaxing and stress-free–how often do you hear a bride use those words to describe wedding planning?!

In addition to their primary photographer, Nitzan Gur of Love Marriage, the couple’s planners encouraged them to bring in a second photographer, Liat Federman, who specializes in shooting interiors to make the most of their breathtaking dà©cor. Yet another point for Naama and Yael–Shirin and Shai are so glad to have Liat’s stunning photos of the venue in all its glory. Rounding things out was videographer Roma Nerom of Nerom, who captured the day in live action.

Beautiful bride Shirin wanted a dress that made her feel like a princess yet was still comfortable to dance all night in, and she found her perfect match in a sparkling rose-gold Berta. And now it’s over to her to fill you in on the details of her exquisite day…

Facebook Live Catch Up: Wedding Dress Trends for 2018 {with The Wedding Club}

29/07/2017 by Karen

WOW! What a Facebook Live we had on Wednesday, live from central London’s most prestigious wedding dress store, The Wedding Club.

I spent most of it open-mouthed, taking in the awesomeness of the show-stopping  wedding gowns from some of the most sought-after wedding dress designers in the world. I’m talking Berta Bridal, Zuhair Murad, and Naeem Khan – all Smashing The Glass faves!

We were treated to a diverse range of breathtaking looks, from super-sexy and barely-there on one end of the spectrum, to lavish gowns layered with peplums, beading, sparkles and a ‘modern ballgown’ feel.

We also saw some sensational statement two-in-one styles, and overskirts that brilliantly illustrate how you can create two different looks for your chuppah ceremony and party. These drew virtual gasps in the comments boxes with lots of ‘wooooah’s and wow’s. We ADORED all your comments, questions, interaction and shares. Thank you so much!

Facebook Live Catch Up: The Wedding Dress Trends you need to know about for 2017 and 2018

08/04/2017 by Karen

We had so much fun on Thursday when Team STG headed to Knightsbridge in central London to film our latest Facebook Live from the world famous Smashing Supplier, The Wedding Club.

The show, all about the latest wedding dress trends, featured five of the most established and sought after wedding dress designers in the world: Berta Bridal, Zuhair Murad, Carolina Herrera, Georges Hobeika and Naeem Khan.

We were treated to all sorts of breathtaking looks ranging from super-sexy and barely-there on one end of the spectrum, to lavish gowns layered with peplums, sparkles and a ‘modern ballgown’ feel.

We love it when brides take a bit of a chance with colour, and we saw a beautiful range of elegant shades – perfect for fashion-forward brides looking to make a statement.

We also saw some sensational statement capes and overskirts that brilliantly illustrate how you can create two different looks for your chuppah ceremony and party. These drew virtual gasps in the comments boxes with lots of ‘wooooah’s and wow’s. We ADORED all your comments, questions, interaction and shares. Thank you!

If you missed the live show, you can watch the replay above and do tell us: which one’s your favourite?!

Capes, Low Backs, Overskirts (ie a 2 in 1 look), Modern Ballgowns, Peplums, and LOTS of sparkles were the latest trends as seen in our 2017 Wedding Trends Facebook Live Show with the amazing Krishma from @theweddingclub1. STG Review: Berta Fall 2017 Collection European Launch

12/01/2017 by Karen

Berta-Bridal-Fall-2017There’s nothing more exciting than a fashion show. The pure anticipation when the room falls silent before the music comes on and all eyes are on the catwalk, awaiting the first glimpse of a designer’s divine new creations.

Last night, I had the immense pleasure of attending the European launch of Israeli designer Berta’s Fall 2017 Collection. It was a gloriously glittering fashion show, at The Savoy’s infamously breathtaking ballroom, hosted by exclusive UK Berta stockist and proud Smashing Supplier, The Wedding Club.

As the event’s official blogger, and having had many Berta brides grace the STG pages, it was an absolute delight to capture the action on Facebook Live and in a series of Instagram shorts. If you missed it, now’s your chance to catch up on everything, including the great cape action (warning, may induce intense dress lust).

Berta has developed quite a reputation as a cutting-edge bridal fashion brand. With all the sex appeal, seductiveness and gumption that personify Mediterranean strong female expression, Berta’s beautifully curated Instagram feed has amassed over a million well-deserved followers.

Berta’s signature aesthetic, sheer fabrics, luxurious lace, plunging necklines and low backs, were all hallmarks of the new collection, but it’s also worth mentioning that there were also sparkles aplenty, capes and trains, bringing an added touch of luxe and glamour to the collection’s stunning, sensual and frankly show-stopping silhouettes.

The show itself was a delight to watch. The Wedding Club and Berta did a fantastic job of championing diversity, with a gorgeous range of body types and ethnicities represented on the catwalk.
