An Amanda Wakeley Bride for an Interfaith Irish-Jewish Wedding at Millhouse and Slane Castle, Slane, Ireland

06/05/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

One of our favorite things here at STG is seeing all the different ways couples bring their backgrounds together in crafting their Jewish weddings… and today we’ve got a great example of exactly that in the Jewish-Irish wedding of Rebecca, who works in property, and Colm, a musician and client services director for a tech company.

The London-based couple opted to marry in Colm’s native Ireland, but they made sure each spouse’s traditions got equal billing, with clever touches like kippot inscribed with both Irish and Hebrew phrases (from STG Brides Club vendor Hebrewear), boxes at each table filled with Yiddish and Irish phrases, an Irish singalong AND a hora – oh, and a beautiful bright ketubah by Micky Caspi, purchased from beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com.

We’re also obsessed with Rebecca’s cool non-traditional bridal style. Her ethereal silver silk gown (and second strappy red number) from Amanda Wakeley just go to show that you don’t have to go white to be a totally gorgeous bride – plus we can’t go without mentioning her awesome starry veil (so on trend for 2019)! Photographer Marianne Chua captured the look splendidly – not to mention all the emotion, action and fun of the big day.

We’ll let Rebecca fill you in on the rest…

How we met

Rebecca, the bride: We met running up and down fields in Central London playing tag rugby. It’s a non-contact version, men and women, and we ended up on the same team. One sunny weekend tournament, I saw him glancing over and suspected he might be interested. We had a friendly chat, made our way to an afterparty together and were pretty much inseparable from there.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

An Amanda Wakeley Bride for a London-Chic, Rose Gold and Grey Jewish Wedding at Rosewood, London, UK

03/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding Rosewood London UK_0033
So how are you settling into 2018?! And have you heard the big news about our super exciting ‘Your Wedding Your Way’ online summit on 31st January? It’s going to be EPIC – just like today’s real Jewish wedding that’s breathtakingly beautiful — inside and out.

With a rose-gold and slate grey color scheme, Emma and Liam accented the best features of gorgeous London venue, Rosewood, and complemented the already divine surroundings with fashion-forward geometric shapes.

At just five feet tall, bride Emma had a unique challenge when searching for the perfect wedding dress, but found her saviors in the team at Amanda Wakeley, who worked to create the perfect design for her frame. I think we can all agree that the result was just sensational! Emma added some height with a pair of iconic Valentino rock stud heels – a classic designer wardrobe staple we just ADORE.

We’re also all aquiver for the stunning chuppah, decorated with fresh flowers by Wildabout – what a beauty!

There were so many friends of Smashing The Glass involved in making this day happen, from submitter Aron from Whitepaper Event, who we love, love, LOVE, to THREE incredible Recommended Vendors: The Function Band, who created an out-of-this-world party atmosphere, Food Story and their delicious catering (and thoughtful cold towel idea for the Israeli dancing) and Denee Motion, whose sensitively captured, romantic trailer can be seen below.

A dear friend of the couple, Tom Archer Photography, led a team of photographers capturing every last detail of the day, and Emma and Liam worked together to provide the loving and wonderful writeup below. We’ll leave you in their capable hands now – get ready to fall in love!

How we met

Emma, the bride: We met six years ago, travelling in Australia. We were both looking for flatmates on Gumtree and Liam replied to my advert. As they say, the rest is history!

Suzanne & Doron | Beach Party Jewish Wedding Weekend at Bayit Al Hayam, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Israel

16/01/2015 by Karen

Beach-Party-Wedding
Hello weekend party people — this is Captain Karen speaking. Welcome aboard Smashing The Glass Airways. Hope you’ve packed your flip flops and party pieces as we’re going to Tel Aviv for a weekend long wedding!

This is the perfect post for a Friday, Not only because it’s beachy and full of sunshine and smiles — perfect for lifting our spirits on this dull January day — but also because it will breeze you into the weekend party spirit. I’m telling you, this folks, this is how you do a beach party wedding!

Suzanne and Doron (or Dozanne as they branded themselves for their wedding) are the smiliest and most fun-loving couple, and both hailing from London, they decided to have themselves a total party-fest of an Israeli destination wedding. The main affair took place in Bait Al Hayam, in Old Jaffa, and furnished Suzanne and Doron with the stunning vistas they were after with breathtaking views of the Tel Aviv coastline and Mediterranean sea. But they also incorporated all sorts of activities outside of the wedding itself, like Beach Olympics a couple of days before the wedding to give all the guests a chance to meet and get to know each other, and a Bedouin Beach BBQ to soak up the hangovers, the day after!

Suzanne is one sexy bride – that hair, those shoes, the dress! Her frock fits her like a glove and she shines in every single photo. And that Doron is pretty cute too…

Liron Erel captured the party vibes and good energies brilliantly with both the incredible wedding film at the end of the post (you have to watch it), and all of the wonderful photos.

Happy Weekend Smash-ers!
