The Get Downs

If you want a band that will get your guests of all ages and of all cultures on the dancefloor, look no further than The Get Downs! We’ve been performing together across the world since 2005 – and would love to help make your Jewish wedding one to remember!

We play a sensational mix of swing, jive, big band, soul, Motown and pop music – there is something for everyone in each performance, which gets guests of all ages on the dancefloor. Every performance is high energy, with vocalists and instrumentalists putting everything into the show – you just can’t resist dancing to our music!

We also perform a fabulous range of music for The Horah, starting off with Hava Nagila followed by a non-stop, high-octane Jewish Simcha dancing medley which lasts for about 15 minutes (including songs like Siman Tov! Mazel Tov!, Hevenu Shalom Aleichem, Chosn Kale Mazel Tov, Moshiach and more).

We can also provide music for the rest of your celebrations – with a huge range of music suitable for the chuppah (such as a male vocalist and pianist), the drinks reception, dinner, and even the day-after breakfast. Options range from a string quartet to a roaming pop band, New Orleans brass band or stunning vintage jazz band.

The musicians in the band are some of the most in-demand on the scene today, having appeared with everyone from Gregory Porter to Elton John and Jools Holland. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service – many clients comment that we are the most communicative of all their suppliers, and we make sure that we pay attention to detail, getting the small details right and taking the stress out of organising entertainment for your wedding.

And, most important of all, every single note you hear from our musicians is 100% live – giving our performance an unmatched level of style and sophistication.

Get in touch today for a personalised quote and to find out how The Get Downs can transform your wedding into a spectacular party which your guests will be talking about for years.

Past Couples' Comments

You and your band were fantastic, not just brilliant at the music but also lovely, helpful and a total pleasure to work with. You were exceptional”

- Deborah Meaden (Dragon's Den)

We just wanted to thank you so much for such a brilliant job last Sunday. We loved every second of the music, beginning with the ceremony and then for dancing in the Porter Tun. Our friends and family also had lots of fun on the dance floor and we have lost track of the amount of praise we have heard for Down for the Count.
Everything was spot on. The brilliant rendition of I’m A Believer prompted some of our friends to start dancing and to get us dancing and that set the tone for the whole evening.

The Jewish stuff was all great. I loved the clarinet. Hannah and Callum aced every song. You all really helped to make the party atmosphere we had been after. So thank you a lot for the combination of brilliant music and energy that you all brought to the evening.

We haven’t hesitated to recommend you to anyone who has asked – not least because you were also a pleasure to deal with to the run-up to the wedding. We hope you get further business from guests at our wedding.

- Edward & Amy, The Brewery

We thought Down for the Count did an outstanding job and so did all of our friends and family. Everyone could not stop raving about how great the music was. Honestly, we wouldn’t have changed a thing and were so impressed. Most of all, it was so special to hear New York, New York as a closing song and we really appreciate your initiative to create those extra special touches for us! Without a doubt, we would recommend Down for the Count to any other friends getting married.”

- Sheila & Rob, St. Pancras Renaissance

I would like to thank you so much for playing at our wedding!
The band were absolutely amazing. Everyone is talking about how great you were. I can’t believe how much energy you all put in – even at nearly midnight after two sets with barely a break as far as I recall! You had some of my grumpiest guests up and dancing – and the whole wedding party was humming New York, New York at brunch on Sunday. Not very well it must be mentioned!
Please, please pass my thanks to all the band members/forward the email. I would highly recommend you to anyone planning an event, both for your professional and friendly service, and for your outstanding performance.”

- Becky, Hatfield House

We can’t thank ‘Down For The Count’ enough for providing such incredible live music and excellent service for our wedding and making a special day extra special. The music was of such a high standard the band were the talk of the evening. Everyone was asking ‘where did you find them they’re amazing!’ and many people felt like they were at a concert!

The band got everyone on their feet dancing and mingling together from 2-92 year olds. It was just as I had dreamed and ended the evening on an incredible high.

The band were the easiest planning part of the whole wedding for us as Mike was super quick at responding to my questions providing a friendly, professional and efficient service. You’re a lovely group of talented people who deserve every success that comes your way!”
