Real Jewish Brides: Jaime Talks About What’s Happened in The Past Three Months and What’s Next

02/07/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Jaime will be marrying Varun on 26th October 2019 at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, California, USA. Click here to read all Jaime’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jaime and Varun will be having a Jewish ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony – on the same day! (2) They’re planning a swanky but not stuffy wedding at one of our fave California venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch! (3) Jaime is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

What’s happened in the past three months

Hey everyone! My goodness it’s been such a whirlwind since I last checked in with STG! April, May and June have been full of fun! As I mentioned in my last blog – we had the best time doing our pre wedding shoot with Clane Gessel – our wedding photographer – just check some of these out…

We also traveled to Los Angeles to meet our wedding planner Leora of Best Bride where we went over everything from A-Z here is the breakdown of what we covered:

#1 Getting real about where we are at with timeline, budget etc etc.

We feel really on track thanks to Leora’s amazing guidance. We can’t believe we are less than 4 months away!

#2  Hair and makeup trials

I fell in love with my hair by V ! And then my makeup by Makeup by Marine. I truly felt like a princess when I had my hair and makeup done by them and I cannot wait for them to do my wedding makeup!

#3 A band!

We also met with a potential band, Eli’s Band. We weren’t going to go with a band originally but after hearing them and seeing their work – we knew we had to have them!

#4 Florals Florals Florals

We met with Butterfly Floral in LA and it was such an amazing experience! Her work is TO DIE FOR. Leora is really bringing us the BEST vendors. Switching to her as a planner was the best decision we ever made for our wedding so far.

#5 Catering

We met with an amazing caterer, Cottura, that Leora introduced us to in LA and he is going to make our cultural blended dream a reality! I don’t want to give too much away but we are PUMPED!

#6 I got my Indian dress!

After we hit up LA we flew to SF where Varun’s parents live so that we could get our Indian outfits. One of my close friends let me know about this amazing local designer, who creates her own pieces and let’s just say I am obsessed with my dress!!

#7 We registered at Bloomingdale’s

So much is up in the air for us for the next few years of our lives in terms of where we will call home. This is due to the fact that Varun and I both run our own businesses – my business can really be done anywhere in the world since it is primarily online but Varun’s business is a bit more location dependent. Because of this we decided that for our registry we would include really special things that we love (like Versace plates!) and also a honeymoon fund.

We will save the home basic things for when we truly settle down! At first our parents were urging us to be “practical” with our registry and get things we would truly need but we figured why not get the special stuff for the wedding – we can always Amazon prime the basics right?

#8 NYC trip so Varun could get his tux

We were in NYC this past weekend so that Varun could get his tux! Ever since we started thinking about outfits for Varun, he has been stuck on Tom Ford – we went to the TF store in NYC and he fell in love with the tux there 🙂 so excited for him!

Coming up

  1. Dress fitting: As I write this I am literally on a plane to Israel to go for my first wedding dress fitting at Helena Kolan!
    (This isn’t my dress, lol!)
  2. Invitations : We are working on designing these and getting them out ASAP!
  3. Planning our return to CA: We will be back to LA and SF sometime in July to go over more wedding stuff 🙂 !
  4. Bachelorette in August – just booked my ticket and cannot wait – I am going to Vegas with my girlfriends and Varun is heading to Colombia!

Do not forget…

Brides to be – I just want to remind you of something – it is YOUR wedding and YOUR day. I couldn’t be happier that we switched wedding planners and like I said it was the BEST decision we have made for our wedding. If you feel off about someone or something SPEAK UP and do not be afraid to change course – it’s better than sticking it out on something that doesn’t feel right, so glad and thankful we found Leora – she came as a recommendation from STG!
