Charlotte will be marrying James on 26th August 2018 at The Brewery, in London, UK. Click here to read all Charlotte’s planning posts to date.
THREE FACTS: (1) James proposed to Charlotte in Florence… on her parent’s 36th wedding anniversary (aaaah – we love that!) (2) They are planning a Jewish urban-rustic wedding in East London (3) They have already decided on their wedding hashtags — it’s #dropitlikeitshart !
Planning a wedding gift list is probably one of the most fun parts of the wedding. And even better — it’s the one part of planning where you don’t need to worry about blowing the budget! There is a lot of choice out there when it comes to gift lists now.
But firstly, why have a wedding gift list? It makes things a lot easier for your wedding guests and saves them the stress of deciding what to give you. Your guests won’t waste their money on gifts you don’t need (or even don’t like!). People who are going to your wedding are going to want to give you a gift for your special day, but they might not have a clear idea of what they want to get you. A gift list just simplifies it for them.
The more choice the better, unless you plan to spend your married life enjoying the 5 kettles and 4 cake knives that no gift list can leave you with!
Do we need a wedding gift list?
If you’re like James and I, having lived together for nearly 5 years we pretty much have everything we could ever need. That said, we still see the benefit of having a list. For us it’s a way to let people who are coming to our wedding know what we want and need.
Online gift lists are great for busy couples who like to shop and do their wedmin from the comfort of their home, plus they offer more flexibility and choice than traditional online shops. Remember to add a good range of prices to cater for all budgets.
Why we chose Prezola
Prezola was the obvious choice for us as they offer over 500 brands and more than 50,000 gifts including The White Company and furniture brands like Made.com. We initially upgraded to a package that includes cash and gift donations, it also allows you to add products from other websites that Prezola don’t offer on their website.
One amazing feature we love is that they offer group gifting, which allows a group of people to pay towards a more expensive gift – fingers crossed for the gelato maker!
Platinum package with Smashing The Glass’s VIB Club membership
Also with the help of being a VIB with Smashing The Glass, we also had another upgrade to the platinum package. Which means that we get our own personal shopper, who helps to tailor our gift list and add any extras they think we are missing.
Building your gift list should give you as much joy as choosing your wedding dress, so leave plenty of time to avoid feeling rushed. I would advise anyone to start creating your list at least three to four months before the wedding, this way you can add gifts at a casual pace. And that way you give a lot more choice to your guests as possible!
