Make Your Wedding a Work of Art with Paper Anniversary

02/12/2016 by Karen

How is it possible to make the most memorable of days even more indelible? At  STG we love anything out of the ordinary when it comes to weddings, and  today we are posting something truly unique.

Meet  Paper Anniversary,  the brainchild of artist Candice Hirson, that specialises in hand painted bespoke artwork, inspired by your relationship and love story.

I truly believe that the art in your home tells the story of who you are. Our walls (and shelves) are full of mine and Mr STG’s choices, some pieces we’ve chosen together and some are from before we even met. All of them are meaningful and special to us in one way or another. None more so than a painting of me pregnant with our first child. It’s captured such an exceptional moment in time and anyone who sees it is drawn to it probably for the same reason.

That’s the sentiment Paper Anniversary work on. What could be more personal an expression of you and your husband and tell your story than an authentic piece of art, inspired by your relationship and wedding day? Candice (Ms Paper Anniversary) will immortalise that loved-up shot with amazing intuition and sensitivity  into a piece of art to hang for all to see.

A great gift for your partner, or the  couple who have everything

You can commission  Paper Anniversary to create a totally extraordinary first wedding anniversary gift (paper anniversary) for your partner or wow a close friend or relative with this unbelievably thoughtful wedding present.

As it’s so subjective, gifting art may normally seem like a tricky business and buying for a couple adds a further challenge of keeping both parties happy, however with such a common interest — namely their wedding day — I think you’re in safer, chartered territory.

And let’s face it paying tribute to a friends relationship  like this will certainly set you on the right path to becoming the most astute and considerate present giver ever!

How it  works

Paper Anniversary is a collaborative process. They will work with you to create a stunning piece of artwork based on a photo of a special moment of your choice. Be that the first dance or that incredible feeling after smashing the glass.

But you don’t have to choose from the wedding album, it could be that favourite photo from the night you met, the first romantic mini break, the ecstatic selfie from the day he proposed, or a more staged shot from an engagement photo shoot — whatever picture makes you smile with a sigh — go with that one!

The artworks are hand painted by Candice, using watercolour and ink on  specialist paper but first you will chat colour schemes and ideas with Candice who’ll create some sketches before starting on your very own work of art.

You can choose the size you want and any other bits you want to incorporate into the piece— maybe a poem or add a bit of fun to it — take a look at this piece, I love the movement and those red shoes!

…or how about this bird stitched onto this design with cotton thread?

The trick is to choose something that they wouldn’t buy themselves but would absolutely love. Paper Anniversary artwork is THE most thoughtful and unexpected present that will impress and humble in equal measure.

But to do it properly I really think you have to consider the receivers personal style. This is a key component to successfully giving art as a gift. And Candice is all over this. Are they bold and colourful? Soft and neutral? minimal? Candice can take on board their personal tone and it will be translated into the artwork.

And it doesn’t have to be a painting, Paper Anniversary has also been commissioned to design challah covers. Yes, challah covers have become quite the popular choice and they are fabulous. Candice has put the couples name and date on the cloth creating a gorgeous piece of art, which is also actually very useful! You’ll also be in their thoughts every Shabbat. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Chuppah Design

For my own  chuppah design, I asked friends and family to send me some words which I could work into a design to be printed onto my chuppah canopy. I gave them total free reign and they didn’t disappoint – we had traditional sayings and blessings, funny one-liners and even a recipe for the best chocolate mousse (a necessity for a good marriage). It was unique, personal and I loved it.

And Candice could totally design something equally unique for your chuppah. And the best part of having the chuppah personalised is that afterwards you can put it up on your wall at home as a beautifully enduring memento from the day and one hell of an impressive piece of art.

Price

A variety of sizes and styles are available and your requests are integrated into the artwork, so the prices will vary. But starting point would be £350 for a watercolour and ink piece. Contact Paper Anniversary for a chat about your vision to glean a more accurate pricing.

Creating art out of the biggest day of your life is a truly impressive way to capture the day and make it timeless.

And gifting your husband or a friend with a wedding (or wedding anniversary) present of this calibre is definitely spotlighting some STG hero words — thoughtful, unique, personal — tick tick tick.

To contact Candice Hirson  about orders, information or chat about your vision, email paperanniversaryart@gmail.com  and for creative ideas visit  paper-anniversary.co.uk.
