Rafaela & Erez | DIY wedding at Hatira Castle, Kibbutz Ga’ash, Israel

11/12/2015 by Karen

KIBBUTZ-GAASH-WEDDING
Pretty handmade  details, freshly picked wild flowers,  and a wedding dress  designed and made by the talented bride feature in this morning’s wedding all the way from Kibbutz Ga’ash in Israel.

Rafaela  is one super cool bride with great taste and very creative hands! I love how she  incorporated her and Erez’s names into their chuppah and  did  you know that she not only designed her dress, but also her bag, hair accessories, and all six of the bridesmaid dresses too!

The gorgeous  images come from one of my much-loved Smashing Suppliers,  Dror Einav, who’s captured all of the love and details, and  with a great sense of humour too. Take it away, Rafaela…

A garden venue in a castle

Rafaela, the Bride:  We wanted a beautiful garden venue, but  food and indoor air-conditioned dancing was also important to us. When we stumbled across  Hatira  (which means ‘castle’ in Hebrew), we knew it was the one. The place was gorgeous, with fantastic  acoustics and delicious food and we said yes on the spot!

Postcard-style wedding invitations

Our wedding invitations were designed like a postcard, as if we  were sending them from holiday!

hair + make up

I wore my hair in a classically elegant style.  Aviel & Perry did my hair and makeup.

Designing my own wedding dress

I’m a wedding dress designer  so I designed my wedding dress myself. It was really hard to choose the style and I had to do  a lot of work with myself till  I realised what I was going to design for my wedding day.

Accessories

I also designed  my wedding bag and hair accessories.

I wore sparkly high heels covered in  glitter by  Roni Kantor.

the groom

Erez  wore a bespoke suit by  Doron Ashkenazi  and looked  very handsome.

six bridesmaids in outfits designed by the bride

I had six bridesmaids and I designed and made  each of their  dresses (as well as matching hair bows!) for them especially for the wedding. I designed them in pastel shades to match my wedding colours.

chuppah design

A  friend and I made the chuppah, and incorporated our names and the wedding date into the design.

Music

Our wedding song was Arms by Christina Perri. After Erez  smashed the glass we played Shout by  Otis Day & The Knights, and our first dance song was Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud.

our fabulous photographer

We met  Dror Einav, our photographer once and fell in love with everything about him! We loved his work  and knew at once that he would be our wedding photographer.
