An Alexandra Grecco Bride for a Super Chic Design-Conscious Jewish Wedding at The Lawrence, Jaffa, Israel

Sometimes we encounter a wedding so jawdroppingly stylish it just blow us away. And that’s exactly what happened when we first set our eyes on the fabulous Jewish wedding of Tel Aviv couple Olivia, is director of partnerships at an AI startup, and Ohad, who runs a global e-commerce company.

Their wedding was full on Israeli chic in the best way possible, with every element – from the artful, unposed photos by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ben Kelmer (who the couple found right here on STG) to the epic design spearheaded by Yahav Green and beyond.

Olivia’s an American who made aliyah a few years back, and since many of the couple’s guests were visiting Israel for their first time, the pair wanted to pull out all the stops to showcase the magic of their home city of Tel Aviv. And between welcome drinks at a rooftop bar in the heart of Shuk HaCarmel, a food tour of the market, and a rehearsal Shabbat dinner catered by Israeli chef Eyal Shani, we’re pretty sure all attendees came away 100% smitten. Even the couple’s venue, The Lawrence in Jaffa, was picked in part for its uniquely Middle Eastern vibes.

As a design aficionado, it’s no surprise Olivia looked exquisitely chic in her simple, classic gown by Alexandra Grecco… read on to hear of the story from her!

How we Met

Olivia, the bride: We are actually a pandemic love story! Olivia made Aliyah to Israel 4 years ago and during the first Covid wave in spring 2020, she befriended a few other Americans in her Tel Aviv apartment building. One of her neighbours, Josh, invited a few people over one night and even though Olivia was a bit hesitant because everyone was just coming out of lockdown, she stopped out (after all, the apartment was one floor below hers).

Ohad was there but truthfully, Olivia doesn’t remember meeting him (or anyone else). A few weeks later, Josh called Olivia and asked if he could set her up with his “very Israeli friend with a huge heart.” Olivia didn’t even ask for a photo (very unlike her) and she met Ohad a few days later. Olivia was immediately charmed by his warmth, wit, and generosity (and it was their first time being inside a restaurant in months, thanks to COVID). Turns out, Ohad had been nagging Josh for Olivia’s number ever since they met at Josh’s house.

Our relationship was on fast forward thanks to a series of intense lockdowns in Israel that we spent together (and even one camped out at Ohad’s parents house in the south of Israel). Olivia is 35 and Ohad is 38 so we knew we wanted to lock it up fast – and we did! We got engaged 10 months after we met, on the eve of Pesach 2021.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

An Intimate Romantic Jewish Wedding at Home on Long Island, New York, USA

11/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Dariana & Dylan, private residence, Long Island NY, USA

Do you love soft romantic vibes? Mismatched florals? The brand Love Shack Fancy? If so, have we got the wedding for you! NYC couple Dariana, who owns a children’s modelling agency, and Dylan, a mural artist, had the loveliest, most intimate garden Jewish wedding at the bride’s dad’s house on the East End of Long Island.

The pair worked with Susie Blumenfeld at Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Pink House Productions to make their dream day a reality – and she completely nailed it, in just 8 weeks (and during peak COVID, no less)! Susie made the process totally stress-free for the couple – so much so that their top piece of advice for engaged couples is to hire an event planner! Pink House Productions also designed the couple’s gorgeous paper goods – don’t miss them in the beautiful photos by Andreas and Nico.

We love the duo’s colorful ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor ketubah.com – and Darianaand Dylan can’t say enough about how helpful and fast the service was!

Dariana was five months pregnant with the couple’s first child on the big day, and she found the most perfect maternity gown from Seraphine – absolutely a perfect fit for a romantic garden wedding, especially when topped with the most exquisite veil from Monvieve-Milano.

We also love that Dariana and Dylan ended off their wedding with a Mr Softee truck! The iconic NYC ice cream truck was the perfect nod to the couple’s home city – plus, who doesn’t love a surprise soft serve?!

A Wedding on the Water

Dariana, the bride: The wedding took place at my Dad’s house which in on the East End of Long island NY.  It is on the water and has so much sentimental meaning. This was a small family wedding so it was quite intimate there.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Lee Petra Grebenau Bride for an Elegant Jewish Wedding at Holkam Hall, Norfolk, UK

08/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Zac-Lucy-Holkham-Hall-Norfolk-UK

How gorgeous is Lucinda and Zac’s fabulous Norfolk Jewish wedding?! The setting, the chuppah, Lucinda’s fabulous gown by Israeli designer Lee Petra Grebenau… It’s all just perfection, as you’ll see if you scroll through Andy Davison Photography’s wonderful images.

Lucinda, an optometrist, and Zac, who works in finance, pulled off a wedding that was not only beyond-words beautiful, but also an awesome party! That was in large part thanks to the couple’s band, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jam Hot, who started with an awesome Israeli dancing set and went on to keep the dance floor packed all night.

In Lucinda’s words, “I think I can say on behalf of every guest at our wedding that Jam Hot Showband really were the highlight of the event. We keep on trying to think of another excuse to have the band again for another party, they created memories that we are forever grateful for and will never forget.” Doesn’t get much better than that!

We were also pleased to hear that Lucinda and Zac also bought their ketubah from much-loved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com –they wanted something they could hang in their home as a work of art, and needless to say they found just the thing.

Now we’ll hand you over to Lucinda…

How we Met

Lucinda, the bride: Zac and I met when we were about 15 years old on holiday, Zac being from London and myself from Nottinghamshire, we were just friends until around the age of 17. Around this age, Zac took me on our first date in London, we started out as a long distance relationship through university. Once I graduated, I moved to London and we have since bought a house and moved in together, and then got married 2 years later, despite all the odds with covid. We had been together for over 8 years before we got married.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A WTOO by Watters Bride for a Star Wars-Themed Jewish Wedding at Sterling Hills Golf Club in Camarillo, California, USA

04/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Adina & Adam, Sterling Hills Golf Club, Camarillo, CA, USA

We love it when couples add fun personal touches to their Jewish weddings – so naturally we got curious when we heard that Adina and Adam incorporated their shared love of Star Wars into their big day. While keeping the overall vibe classically elegant, the pair worked in fun, small touches: themed signature cocktails; Adam’s cufflinks and tie clip were shaped like the Millennium Falcon; the DJ even played some Star Wars music during cocktail hour!

And the couple’s gorgeous ketubah by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor The Delicate Brush is so out-of-this-world beautiful, it looks like it came from a galaxy far, far away. Adina and Adam chose artist Rachelle’s Midnight Lagoon design, and they love having a ketubah that’s also a beautiful piece of artwork.

Even Adina’s wedding dress shopping experience kept the sci fi magic going: she found her uber-elegant WTOO by Watters at Lorien Bridal Boutique, a boutique catering to nerdy brides who want to live out their Disney princess/Harry Potter/Star Wars dreams – how fun is that?

You can tell from Jenina Simplicio Photography’s beautiful, natural photos that this day was truly filled with joy at every moment – we’ll turn you over to Adina for all the details…

How we Met

Adina, the bride: While the story of how we met isn’t that unusual for the 21st century, the fact that we didn’t meet until 2017 is! Both of us attended the same Jewish elementary school in Los Angeles, just two grades apart. Adam carpooled with my best friend Melissa to school for 6 years! Then in college, I met Adam’s sister Romy at a mutual friend’s birthday party and stayed friendly for years. When we came across each other’s profiles on J-Swipe on New Year’s Eve 2016 and saw we had mutual friends, I reached out to Melissa and Adam reached out to Romy to see if we should go on a date. 11 days later, we met up at a local bar and the rest is history!Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Suzanne Neville Bride for an Enchanted Garden Backyard Jewish Wedding in London, UK

01/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Orli-Ben-private-residence-London-UK

We could not be more thrilled to be featuring the gorgeous Jewish wedding of our beloved Brides Club member Orli! Like so many 2020 couples, she and Ben ended up with a very different wedding from the one they first planned – but in the end, they adored their ultra-personal wedding in Orli’s parents’ garden, calling it “the best and most special decision that we made.” And scrolling through the beautiful images from Promise Photography, you can see why!

We were delighted to hear that Orli and Ben found a number of their fabulous vendors through Smashing The Glass – including Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor The Function Band, who the pair were set on booking from the moment they got engaged, so much so that they booked The Function Band before they even had a venue. Needless to say, The Function Band created an epic party atmosphere and kept the dance floor packed all night long.

Orli and Ben also found wonderful Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Blue Sky Flowers tight here. From the moment the couple met with founder Liz, they knew they wanted her as their florist – and she brought their enchanted garden dreams to life.

There’s so much more to say about this wedding, but we’ll leave the rest to Orli – who looked so chic in her dress from Suzanne Neville…

Change of Plans

Orli, the bride: We got married in my parent’s garden and it was by far the best and most special decision that we made. Before the pandemic we had planned to get married at St Pancras Renaissance but with all the uncertainty we wanted a venue that we knew we could definitely have regardless of if the numbers were 15 or unlimited. Moving the wedding to my parent’s garden whilst caused more logistics and stress at the time was hand on heart the best decision that we made.Continue ReadingContinue Reading
