A Sottero and Midgley Bride for an Autumnal Jewish Wedding at 1840s Plaza, Baltimore, Maryland, USA

It’s always extra special when we get to feature the Jewish wedding of one of our beloved Brides Club members – especially when it’s as gorgeous as Faith and Jordan’s! We so loved having Faith in the group and following along her wedding planning journey, and we’re touched to hear her say that “Brides Club gave me support through challenging periods with transparency and warmth, to which I’ll always be grateful for.”

Faith and Jordan both love autumn and the deep jewel-toned hues associated with the season, so it was a no-brainer to take advantage of the season with an outdoor chuppah at Baltimore’s 1840s Plaza.

And what a chuppah it was: as a gift to the couple, the groom’s parents built the chuppah out of Crepe Myrtle trees from Jordan’s late paternal grandfather’s property, and draped it with white linen and family heirloom tallitot – don’t miss it in the wonderful photojournalistic images by Jessi Vaughn Photography and trailer by Anchor Pictures.

During her engagement, Faith won a competition right here on STG to win personalized English and Hebrew monograms courtesy of the talented Jewish wedding monogram artist Elise Lerner of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Monograms by Elise Lerner, and Faith and Jordan incorporated their monograms throughout the big day. In Faith’s words, “Elise combined our drastically different tastes and crafted two gorgeous monograms that we adore! The English iconography was used for all our signage, programs and favors (homemade mulling spice sachets), and the Hebrew design was printed on the lining of each kippah. We also used the English design on our thank you notes, and plan on interchanging both on personal stationary for years to come!”

Before we turn you over to Faith, we have to mention that Faith sadly had to plan her big day without her beloved father by her side. Incorporating his memory into the wedding was a top priority for both her and Jordan, and they found some wonderful ways to honor him on this bittersweet day.

How We Met

Faith, the bride: I’m an opera singer from DC, and he’s a molecular biologist from Ellicott City, Maryland… but as he’d say, “The system works!” We’ve known each other for thirteen years thanks to NFTY-MAR (North American Federation of Temple Youth, Mid-Atlantic Region, aka regional high school youth group). Our relationship evolved over the course of seven years before we started dating, and we celebrated five years together just eight days shy of the wedding!Continue Reading

An Alon Livne Bride for a “Bar Mitzvah for Adults” Jewish Wedding at The Gates on Roblin, Headingley, Manitoba, Canada

We love that Erin, a labour and employment lawyer, and Daniel, a national partnerships manager, described their dream Jewish wedding as “a bar mitzvah, but for adults.”

And between their bright color scheme and exuberant décor (don’t miss the flower clouds!), epic candy table and late-night McFlurries, custom temporary tattoos, glow sticks, and giant Horah heads featuring the bride and groom’s faces, Erin and Daniel absolutely succeeded in crafting a wedding overflowing with energy and fun – don’t miss the joyous photos and video from Picture and Poet!

We also love that Erin opted to wear an Israeli designer, Alon Livne, – and how elegant did she look?! – and we’re smitten with the couple’s beautiful papercut ketibah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor ketubah.com.

How We Met

Erin, the bride: We met in high school at a house party, and began our relationship as friends. Once we both graduated, we decided to start dating, something we both had wanted at different times throughout our friendship. We quickly incorporated the other into our families and we spent our early twenties travelling Europe, going to sporting events and growing up together.

After being together for five years we parted ways for two years and lived in different cities. We both knew that if it was meant to be, we’d find our way back to each other. Sure enough, after a long time of not crossing paths, we finally met again… on bumble when we were both back home in Winnipeg. We had each grown independently over our time apart but the only thing that had really changed between us, was the realization that now we knew for sure, that this time, it was forever.Continue Reading

A Jewish Wedding with a Fabulous Floral Chuppah at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, Simi Valley, California, USA

Justine, a medical resident, and David, who works in finance, got married at one of our very favorite outdoor Jewish wedding venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch. Focusing on the natural beauty of their California setting, the duo let their venue take the lead, choosing neutrals and earth tones to complement their surroundings.

This included an absolute stunner of a floral chuppah – don’t miss it in the dreamy photos by Joe Silva – and a gorgeous nature-inspired custom ketubah by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Meirav Finn, which Justine and David now proudly display in their home.

We also love some of the fun touches the pair incorporated into their day, like opting for had charcuterie board-style platters on each table instead of individually plated dinners, and an afterparty by the pool featuring hookahs, a cigar bar, and paninis!

A Lillian West Bride for an Ultra-Personal Jewish Wedding Full of DIY Touches at Parklands Quendon Hall, Essex, UK

If you could use an extra infusion of Jewish joy right now, look no further – we promise you the Jewish wedding of Judith, a senior manager at an IT consultancy, and Josh, a teacher at a secondary school, will put a BIG smile on your face.

We’re in love with all of the personal DIY touches the couple incorporated into their big day to make it 100%, totally them. We can’t get enough of the fun DIY activity sessions Judith and Josh set up for their guests, featuring everything from a giant Guess Who game with members of the wedding party as all the faces to an art station where guests could decorate mini canvases! Don’t miss them in the wonderful photos by Natalie and Max.

Another thing we love is that when it came to music, the duo opted to invite friends to do guest DJ sets all through the wedding with the theme of “music through the ages” – how fun is that?!

This was a wedding with lots of moving parts to be organized, and Judith and Josh wisely opted to work with Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Events by Natasha as their on-the-day coordinator to make sure everything ran smoothly. In Judith’s words, “Natasha and her team were absolutely fantastic on the day – they prepared everything so beautifully, and were really instrumental in making things run smoothly and to time. It really allowed us to just “press play” on the day and see all the hard work being put into motion, without us having to worry about anything.”

How We Met

Judith, the bride: We met as many modern couples do, using the help of the handy dating app Hinge! Josh was drawn in by the colourful rainbow makeup and unitard displayed on Judith’s profile (evidence of one of the many themed zoom hang-outs Judith had with her dance troupe over lockdown), and Judith was impressed by video footage of Josh scaling the boulder at Mabley Green, showing his climbing prowess and shared interest in bouldering.

We met for dinner and a drink at a local Japanese bar, and enjoyed each others’ company over some tasty sushi. The conversation flowed, and the smiles and laughs kept coming. It was Chanukah, and towards the end of the date, Josh asked whether Judith had been lighting candles to celebrate. Much to her surprise, he reached into his bag and produced a full Chanukiah, set of candles, and a lighter. Together, in the middle of the bar, we smiled across at one another in the candlelight. Judith thought it was a great story to take back to her family… little did she know that this would be the person she would want to smile and light candles with for the rest of her life!Continue Reading

An Essense of Australia Bride for an Elegant Jewish Wedding at Sopwell House, St Albans, UK

We love it when a couple pulls together a fabulous team of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors to make their Jewish wedding dreams come true – which is exactly what today’s duo did. Alberta, who works in marketing, and Scott, in digital sales, made things official at Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Sopwell House, the perfect country house venue nestled in the Hertfordshire countryside. They loved the private outside area, where they opted to hold their chuppah, as well as the variety of indoor function rooms they were able to choose from!

Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ambassador Band kept the dance floor full ALL night long, and guests couldn’t stop raving about the band after the wedding. Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Claudine Hartzel was responsible for the dreamy photos, in her trademark bright and luminous style, and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Michael Pearl handled videography. The couple initially weren’t planning on having a videographer at all, but now they’re so glad they did – and they report watching their highlights video daily! Yet another beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor, Toastmaster Jango, was on hand to make sure the day ran smoothly.
