Aliza & Ron | Blue + White Nautical theme Israeli wedding at Hayarkon Park, Tel Aviv

24/07/2014 by Karen

NAUTICAL-THEME-WEDDING
These two are cute with a capital ‘C’. Aliza, a lawyer from New York, and Ron, a software engineer from Rishon Letziyon in Israel, met online (like several of our real wedding couples… Shiri & Yariv and Lee & Gary to name but a few), and now married, they reside in Manhattan. They decided to hold their wedding in Israel in a beautiful park setting right on the river and so their nautical theme rather chose itself. I love the laid back and relaxed nautical styling and all the ship shape details they incorporated.

All of the wonderful images were taken by the rather talented Mor Elnekave and Lior Sperandeo.

Natalie & Eli | Informal DIY Boho Jewish Wedding at House Plantation, Texas

17/07/2014 by Karen

RUSTIC-DIY-WEDDING
I think it took me exactly 3.6 seconds from the moment I first read Shaun Taylor‘s email, detailing Natalie and Eli’s wedding, to thinking oh yes, this has crashed through my submission barriers — I’ve got a killer Smashing The Glass wedding on my hands here!

I love that Natalie made her own dress and wore cowboy boots. I love that Natalie’s mum made her jewellery. I love that the couple flew out their photographer, Shaun Taylor all the way from Derby  to Texas because they loved his work so much. I love what Natalie says about working together with your fiancà© as a team in the planning stages. And I love that it rained and then rained some more, but far from letting the weather dampen their spirits, they embraced it and the results are even better than they imagined, as Natalie describes below.

You’ll also see the most exquisite henna tattoos covering Natalie’s arms. A traditional Yemenite henna party is a popular pre-wedding ritual for Sephardi Jews and you can see theirs in full swing over on Shaun’s blog. It just goes to show you can stamp your personality onto your wedding weekend and dig deep into your culture’s traditions too. The two are not mutually exclusive  and that’s exactly what this blog is all about.

5 brilliant tips to help you choose your wedding photographer

14/07/2014 by Karen

how-to-choose-wedding-photographer
Today’s post is written by the super talented  contemporary wedding photographer, Emmie Scott.  Emmie lets us in on  5 tips from the top on what to look out  for when choosing your wedding photographer.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOU

It is not uncommon at a wedding to have a guest walk up to me and ask me “can you Photoshop my wedding images? My photographer got drunk at my wedding and all my pictures are blurry”. Or something to that affect.

As a wedding photographer who takes their profession very seriously, there is nothing more frustrating and upsetting.

There is a lot of advice out there for engaged couples on how to choose a wedding photographer but I feel that much of it is misguided.

Don’t take the following advice for granted. Your photographs will continue to live on once the memories have long since faded. All the guests have left, the marque has been brought down, the food has been eaten, paper details have been thrown in the bin: your photography will last and continue to bring you joy forever more.

I am going to let you in on not only how to choose your wedding photographer but how to choose the right one for you and what to expect so that you can avoid any rogue traders.
