Sophie and Sam’s Jewish wedding at Mar Hall, outside Glasgow, was the most perfectly elegant celebration, featuring a stunning indoor/outdoor venue, a moving ceremony (complete with gorgeous floral chuppah), and unforgettable music from start to finish.
Sophie and Sam knew from the get-go that music was a high priority, and they chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor The Twentysomethings to create the perfect atmosphere throughout the day. The couple worked closely with the band to craft their setlist, including personalized wedding procession songs. From the emotional chuppah performance by The Twentysomethings Duo and their Israeli vocalist through to the 9-piece band that kept guests on the dancefloor all evening long, it’s safe to say The Twentysomethings totally rocked it.
Take one look at the photos by Ashley Coombes and you can see what a fabulous time was had by all. Now over to the couple for all the details…
A Classic Venue
Sophie, the bride and Sam, the groom: We had multiple run throughs and visits with the venue, Mar Hall, and Nicola from the events team who were always willing to accommodate our plans and needs. She helped ensure specific family were placed in accessible rooms where needed. The beautiful grounds of the hotel and stunning visual of the hall itself made for some amazing photos. Our pre-ceremony / drinks were held within the hall itself, our ceremony took place in Morton House (Part of the estate next to the main Hall) and dinner / dancing took place in the Garden Pavilion.
The Perfect Team
Overall, every element of the day was carefully crafted and brought to life by a big team of people. Everyone worked tirelessly to help deliver our dream wedding which ticked every box we could have asked for. We will never forget what an incredible day we had and it was truly thanks to all the time, support and effort that a large team of people all worked tirelessly to deliver!
Dress
Sophie’s dress was personalised and the Bijoux Bridal team helped add details such as sleeves to an already beautiful dress to ensure it was the dress of her dreams for the big day.
Ceremony
Rabbi Rubin had many zoom call meetings with us both to help plan and personalise our ceremony to a T. Despite being across the country he made lots of time to explain, plan, personalise and make the ceremony exactly as we envisioned.
Our music choice
Music was a key part of the day. We had multiple meetings, emails & phone calls with the band, The Twentysomethings to help design our perfect setlist including our personalised wedding procession songs. The Twentysomethings Duo performed for the chuppah with their Israeli Vocalist. After drinks outside the Hall we entered the Garden Pavilion for Israeli dancing by the 9 piece band. Post dinner started off with the first dance ‘I Wont Give Up’ by Jason Mraz which the band performed followed by an evening of dancing.
We were very keen to have a specific song / style and the band helped make this a reality. They were happy to accommodate our sister performing with them (as she sings) half way through and helped guide her with vocal advice in the lead up to her performance. For the ceremony, the groom’s processional was ‘Erev Shel Shoshanim’ and the bride’s processional was ‘Im Eshkachech’.
Flowers
We had a unique vision for the floral arrangements / table decorations / chuppah / aisle which was not a typical style but was still executed in the exact way we envisioned by Under the pear tree.
Photographer and videographer
Our photographer Ashley Coombes helped us to plan (to the minute) our staged photos so we were able to include all the family we wanted in a tight timeframe. He also captured an incredible group wedding photo using a drone, which we specifically had planned/asked for in the run up to the day. Both our photos and video were delivered to us extremely prompt after the wedding and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
Food and cake
We had multiple menu tastings both in London and Glasgow with Jasmine Catering to help ensure that our menu would be feasible for a Glasgow wedding where the ingredients would have to travel up from London.
