LUZ Weddings does it again. We can never get enough of the edgy, stylish, architecturally inspired wedding photos and video from this beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor, and Mor and Yotam’s gorgeous Israeli seaside wedding is no exception – if the idea of wedding photos that don’t feel like wedding photos appeals to you, scroll on to see what we’re talking about.
Granted, the LUZ team had great material to work with. Mor, an import coordinator at a business importing luxury brands to Israel, and Yotam, a customer success manager at an advertising startup, both have a thing about the sea, and so it was only natural that they chose a venue that made the most of Israel’s stunning coastline. To maximize the experience, they went for a resort theme for the whole day, sticking with a palette of oceanic blues, tropical greens, and sandy beige and white.
We also love that, to add a personal touch to their ceremony, these two decided they’d each write a note to the other, to be read for the first time – aloud for all the guests to hear – under the chuppah. What a sweet, memorable touch – whether you go the sentimental route, like Yotam, or take more of a comic turn, as Mor did in hers.
There’s so much more to see about this fab wedding, but we’ll let the bride – who looked ravishing in Alon Livne– fill you in on the rest…
How we met
Mor, the bride: Yotam started communicating at the end of the first semester of university, and I didn’t really understand why… It was only by the end of the first year that we started dating, and the rest is a true love story.
A Seaside Venue
We got married at 5.91, a venue which is located 5m’ and 91 c”m from the shore. Both of us have a deep connection and love for sea, so we wanted the sunset, the sound of the waves, the seagulls. and sea-salty wind to create the perfect atmosphere for our chuppah.
Another plus was the exceptional cuisine this place has to offer. The menu was something we didn’t want to compromise on.
Resort Style
I have strong aesthetic preferences, an affinity for design, and attention to detail. We both knew from the beginning that we would plan a wedding that would evoke a certain atmosphere. We decided to go with a “resort” concept, with main colors of blue (the sea), green (tropical leaves and palm trees), white and beige (sand).
It was very important for me to be involved in every step of creating and designing our wedding. I decided to take the design under my control, from the wedding invitations to the table decoration and even the chuppah.
What ‘Smashing The Glass’ Did For Us
I loved seeing weddings from all over the world, and how every couple makes their wedding their own and give it their own touch. It’s truly inspiring.
Invitation
We designed the invitation around the same “resort” concept.
An Alon Livne Dress
My perfect dress was love at first sight! It was a design by the talented Alon Livne. To be honest, his studio was the first place we visited, and the second dress I tried was “the one”. It was exactly the dress I was looking for: pure white, elegant, simple but stylish with one shoulder.
Accessories
I had jewellery, rings and earrings, from Lili Jewelry, my family’s diamond business. I had a one-of-a-kind orchid diamond cut, which is the signature of their business.
Sam Edelman Shoes
My shoes were totally skyscrapers with an 11.5 c”m heels! The shoes were by Sam Edelman in nude color. Later on, in order to hit the floor with my best moves, I switched to my white leather Converse All Star.
Hair + Makeup
My dream team was Aviel Shmaya (hairstylist) and Hili Yassour (makeup).
Since my dress was a one-shoulder dress, we decided to put my hair up.
I have super curly hair and Aviel did an amazing job – my hair didn’t move a bit during the entire wedding. As for the makeup, since I don’t like to make up my face, Hili created a very natural yet glamorous look, which was exactly what I wanted – to feel comfortable in my own skin.
The handsome groom
The groom, AKA my husband, wore the classic suit: a white shirt with a black suit designed and customed by Bamoss Square in Tel Aviv.
Ceremony
We decided to write a note to each other which we read for the first time during the ceremony.
Yotam took it to the more sentimental side (as this is my romantic hubby) while I took it to the humorous point of view sharing with our friends and family about how we really met and shared funny moments we had during our 7-year relationship.
I wanted to take a different and lighter perspective to our traditional chuppah ceremony, and so our friends and family were surprised and laughed from my stories and mentioned them later on after the wedding.
The most memorable moment in our ceremony was when Yotam’s niece ran into the chuppah and asked for water saying she was thirsty once she saw us drinking the wine for the blessings – it was hilarious!
Our music choice
For both of us, it was very important that the vibe and atmosphere felt like a party. We asked our DJ Tomer Mosko from Alpha Music Group, to play hits and mainstream on the dance floor and later on move towards more electronic beats. We walked and entered to the chuppah with a tune by Muete, a cover for the song ‘You and Me’ by Flume.
When Yotam smashed the glass for the memory of Jerusalem and the Destruction of the Jewish Temple we played the song by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – ‘Can’t Hold Us Down’.
Succulents and Herbs
Instead of having flowers for decoration, we decorated the tables with succulents and herb pot with a small note “Mor and Yotam’s wedding”, a little souvenir from our special day that our guests could take home.
We designed everything at home and asked the venue manager to place them on the tables.
Photographer and videographer
LUZ Weddings captured our special moments. We really liked the fact that they bring another perspective to their wedding photos. They have a very specific, clean, detailed and precise eye and taste which was something that we loved.
Food
The catering at our wedding was by the venue, 5.91. They created the perfect menu with delicious and uncompromising dishes.
We keep hearing from our guests that the food was absolutely fantastic (especially the beef filets).
We didn’t have a cake at our wedding, but a small variety of desserts: chocolate, fruits etc.
Speech
I wanted to give a speech that both served as a personal note between me and Yotam but would also be relatable for our guests.
My speech, during the chuppah, was in a humorous style, with me telling our friends and family how Yotam and I started dating, memories and special moments from our long relationship. One of which, was the time we traveled to Zanzibar and he thought it would be funny to kneel without proposing for real!! l and make a joke about him asking me to marry him.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
Sleep well the night before the big day, be present in the moment and enjoy every minute: eat, drink, party with your friends and family. I thought of myself as a guest and that really helped me to lower my stress level.
