Alyshia and Martin are the cutest couple. Their couple shots are so full of warmth and affection, I’ve snuck a fair few into this post. I’ve also included lots shots of Alyshia’s bouquet — which is bursting with gorgeous ombre orchids. She’s such a loveable bride, and that headpiece is swooooooon. The groom, Martin, has the most splendid geek-cool factor – watch out for his seriously sexy groom fashion.
So let’s jet off to the lakes in Canada for this delightful affair. I’m approaching it from a slightly different angle this time round as it’s actually the pair’s photographers — Erika and Ryan from Rowell Photography — that will be talking us through the bride and groom’s view of the day.
A WONDERFUL VENUE OVERLOOKING THE LAKE
Erika & Ryan, the photographers: On a rainy day in October 2013, Alyshia and Martin were married overlooking the gorgeous Lake Rosseau, Canada’s famous Muskoka Lakes District. Nearly 200 of their closest friends and family joined them for a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony at J.W. Marriott’s The Rosseau in Minett, Ontario, Canada.
EMBRACING THE ELEMENTS
Alyshia and Martin were one of the most relaxed and laid back couples we have ever met, and where most couples would start to panic on their wedding day when it rained, Martin and Alyshia were far from that type. These two are not afraid of a little water, as you can tell by some of their engagement photos. In fact, Alyshia met Martin in the rain for their ‘first look’, when he was waiting for her on the dock, just as they had always planned to do.
BEAUTIFUL PINK OMBRE FLORALS
The ceremony and reception decor and florals were created by the amazing Muskoka team at Mode Function. The pink ombre gradient of flower petals on the top table, and the bridesmaid’s bouquets and groomsmen’s boutonnieres really made this wedding super stunning.
A KID’S TABLE WITH MASKS, SWEETS, AND COLOURING BOOKS
Alyshia was very hands-on in the design process and even helped create a kids table for all the nieces and nephews which included tons of sweets, candy, colouring books, crayons and adorable paper masks for every kid to wear.
PERSONAL ELEMENTS AND ‘PUPPY’ COOKIES!
Alyshia and Martin incorporated a lot of personal elements into their special day. By far our favourite were the custom cookies with their puppy’s face on them!
A CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE AND A LIVE 9 PIECE BAND
Martin and Alyshia kicked off the dancing with a choreographed dance they had been working on, and a live 9 piece band. For the traditional Hora dance, I am pretty positive that all 200 guests were out on the dance floor! Guests danced into the night to the sounds of the big band. It was a truly special occasion and we were honoured to have photographed it.
