A Sophia Tolli Bride for a Winter Jewish Wedding in Pink at Sopwell House, St Albans, UK

Hannah and Luke, Sopwell House, St Albans, UK

Gorgeous chuppah alert! Bride Hannah, an account manager for a SAAS company, loves all things pink, so when it came time to plan her Jewish wedding to Luke, a research analyst for an asset manager, it was a given that the color would play a prominent role. That included the chuppah – and we are here for the floral romance in shades of rose crafted by the couple’s florist, Sonia of Amber Rose Flowers.

Hannah and Luke wanted to make sure their wedding had an amazing vibe with everyone up dancing all night, and they chose Totem – which happens to be owned by Hannah’s uncle Brett! – to make it happen.

We also love that the couple, who’ve been together since they were 15, had their rabbi from school under the chuppah with them officiating – and we’re also obsessed with the way they brought in all kinds of personalized touches incorporating their design and logo! Catch it all in the wonderful candid photos from Rachel Takes Pictures.

Read on for all the gorgeous details in Hannah’s own words…

How We Met

Hannah, the bride: We have been together for 13 years – we met at school and started going out when we were 15 in March 2013, and then went on to get married on 25th Jan 2026! We clicked from the day we met from such a young age and knew we were soulmates straight away – we couldn’t imagine life without each other.

Venue

Sopwell House in St Albans.

We picked this venue because we wanted to get married somewhere locally to us that had a warm and cosy winter feel to it. We have stayed at Sopwell House before and been many times for tea / dinner etc, and we have always loved the homely vibe to it. They also have an amazing spa there, and Luke especially loves the spa, sauna, steam room etc and so this was an important factor to ensure we could make full weekend in a venue that was very us!

Theme

We made sure to make the wedding feel ‘very us’. We wanted our friends and family to feel our vibe around them – Hannah loves all things pink so we made sure that there were lots of pink elements including a chuppah full of pink flowers, pink tablecloths, pink menus, pink candles etc.

We also made sure that the food menu was food we loved – our favourite meal is schnitzel and one of our favourite restaurants is Fischers so we recreated this by having schniztel, mash potato and gravy for mains with zucchini fries. We are also obsessed with biscoff and so had a biscoff and apple crumble for desert – all our family and friends know this about us and everyone came up to us saying how us the menu was and how much they loved that.

Our wedding coordinator is called Amy Geppert and was INCREDIBLE – she made sure everything was organised beforehand and on the day, made sure everything was sooo smooth and worry free.

Invitation/Stationery

Kellmatt in Borehamwood designed and printed all of our stationary. Tina designed it all and was beyond amazing and so patient as we changed and added things all the time! Our colour scheme was baby pink and chocolate brown so Tina worked with us to create stationary that we loved!

Hair + Makeup

Dani Levi for makeup. Dani has done Hannah’s makeup over the years for different occasions and she is the best! I wanted my makeup to feel natural, whilst also still being bridal. Dani created exactly that and I couldn’t have been more obsessed! Dani’s energy and calmness is the best and she made me feel soo excited whilst having my makeup done.

Gaby Goldring for hair – Gaby was recommended to me by sooo many people and from our first phone call, I loved her energy and loved all the pictures and videos I had seen. Gaby stayed until after the chuppah and came with us around the hotel whilst we had our couple pictures to keep touching up my hair – she was such a calming presence all day and I felt so grateful to have her there!

A Sophia Tolli Dress

My dress was from an Australian designer called Sophia Tolli and I got it from Satin Bow Bridal in St Albans – they were sooo amazing in there!!

I always knew I wanted an a-line dress that wasn’t completely plain, but wasn’t overly detailed.

I love the back of tops in general so I knew I always wanted the back of the dress to stand out – the dress was a corset with a complete mesh back and boning throughout. I love a little detailing and it had floral beaded lace details throughout, and the standout for me was that they were placed to create a sweetheart neckline which was different to other dresses I have seen! I tried on lots of dresses and each one of them had something I liked and something missing, and my dress combined it all together.

I knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on – it made me cry when I saw it, and I didn’t want to ever take it off!!

Shoes

My shoes were from Dior and I was obsessed with them! My dress had a slit in it so I wanted to shoes that were not only going to make me feel special and my best, but that would also look amazing as they were on show! As soon as I tried them on, I felt so special and knew they were the ones!

Bridesmaids

I had 11 bridesmaids!! I had 2 Maids of Honour – my sister and best friend Lottie – and then 9 bridesmaids. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by so many best friends – they have all been my best friends since we were young and so it felt like such a 360 moment that they were all right by my side as I got married!

Their dresses were chocolate brown to match the colour scheme – they could pick any shape they wanted from the Six Stories collection.

Ceremony & Chuppah

We wanted a very full chuppah that was covered in amazing pink flowers. Hannah is obsessed with the colour pink so there was no question that the flowers needed to be this colour! We worked with our incredible florist Sonia, who owns Amber Rose Flowers. Her chuppahs are breathtakingly beautiful with such a romantic feel to them and the room. We told her exactly our vibe and looked through previous chuppahs that Sonia had created – to be honest, we completely trusted her so we didn’t have too much input and knew it would be amazing and wanted to be surprised on the day!

For the ceremony, we had personalised tissues and kippot for everyone and made sure that the little details such as reserved seating signs matched our design and logo. We both decided to have white flowers to stand out – with Hannah’s bouquet being white and Luke’s buttonhole being white whilst all the groomsman and bridesmaids had pink to match the chuppah.

As we have been together since school, we also asked our rabbi from school if he would be able to lead the ceremony and marry us which he did! It was such a special moment as he has seen our relationship since we were 15 and it was a full circle moment to have him there under the chuppah with us.

Our music choice

We had Totem as our band. Hannah’s uncle, Brett, owns Totem and so Brett was there to support and guide us the whole way! It was super important for us to have an amazing vibe and we wanted everyone up dancing and partying all night and so Brett helped us bring that vision to life! The band is the best and soooo talented!!! Every member is absolutely phenomenal and the energy they brought to the night was unmatched. They listened to all our song requests, including sets we had asked for such as R&B. We had a DJ and also had Matt, who does a live piano set in the middle of the dance floor and takes song requests, in between courses and the atmosphere with him too was amazing. We were all up signing around the piano surrounded by everyone that we love, this was one of the best moments of the night!!

We had a mix of songs and had our favourite song  ‘Endless Love’ by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie as our first dance which is such a special song to us. We have always listened to this throughout the years and it is our special song – the first dance just felt like it was the two of us in the room and was beyond magical – we never wanted this moment to end.

Flowers

We had a whole mix of beautiful pink and white flowers and Sonia who owns Amber Rose Flowers brought our vision and more to life. Every single detail was just so stunning – from the chuppah, the bouquets, and all the details on the table and around the room including the amazing centre pieces with pink candelabra to bring a winter and cozy feel to the room. We were just obsessed and it was all better than we could have imagined!!!

Photographer and videographer

Photographer – Rachel Takes Pictures.

There are no words to describe how talented and incredible Rachel is. She captured our day perfectly and more. From the moment we got engaged, we have followed Rachel and her pictures from other people’s weddings and loved everything about them. Rachel is so kind and as soon as we met her, we trusted her advice and she made us feel so calm and organised about the day – from the timings of when we needed to be ready, order for family pictures and ideas for our couple pictures. We love the vibe of Rachel’s pictures and how candid and natural they are – you can tell all the emotions throughout the day from looking at them and all the moments were captured so perfectly and naturally.

Videographer – Denee Motion.

Denee Motion were our videographers and we knew from day 1 that we wanted to have them. We have also followed all of their work and love what they do and how perfectly they capture every moment. You can tell by looking through their videos and reels that they are there at every special moment and capture the bestest memories and highlights from the day that we can relive forever!!

Food and cake

We had Marc Sharer / Eighteen Events as our caterers and the food was insane!!! We wanted the food to be very us and Marc made sure to help us create that. All the canopies were a mix of things we love, and we had a smoked salmon and bagel bar in the reception to keep things fun and different!

For the main meal, we chose an Italian theme as this is our fave which included arancini balls to start, schnitzel with mash and zucchini fries for man and lotus and apple crumble for desert – we just told Marc what we love and he and his team made it happen!

All our guests couldn’t get over how amazing the food was!

Extra Details

There are so many things that made the wedding day extra special – from us both writing letters and giving each other surprise wedding gifts the morning of the wedding, to having the piano music on the dance floor surrounded by everyone we loved, the moment of walking down the aisle and our first dance together where it felt like no one else was in the room, to the speeches and toasts from friends and family – every moment was so special to us! One funny moment during the speeches was Luke’s best men’s speech – we became obsessed with our walking pad at home and Luke’s best men brought this out during their speech and made Luke walk on it which was a hilarious touch.

We had lots of different touches throughout the day, from personalised tissues, personalised slippers that we gave out during the night to match our logo (and the weather!), and all the matching flowers, candles, tablecloths etc to give the room an amazing ambience.

Every moment was so magical – there are no words to describe it and becoming husband and wife is the best feeling in the whole entire world!!

Honeymoon

We went to Dubai the day after our wedding as this is our favourite and most special place in the world. We got engaged here and have been a few time before on holiday and we just love it so much – so many of our favourite and most special moments and memories are there and so we wanted to go back as soon as we were married! We stayed at the Jumeriah Al Naseem which is incredible – we highly recommend!!

For our honeymoon, we wanted to do the trip of a lifetime and go somewhere we haven’t been before where we could see lots of places! In the summer, we are doing a roadtrip through the West Coast of America, flying to Arizona and spending a few nights in Napa Valley. We can’t wait!!!

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding

Our piece of advice would be to try and not stress all the small things – it is so easy to get caught up in all of the small and fine details, and to stress about every single detail! It is of course so normal, but on the day, all that matters is the two of you and when you are walking down the aisle, you forget every minor detail that you were overthinking! It all goes so fast so enjoy every moment of the build up, and take a moment on the day to step back and look around the room at everyone that is there to celebrate you two!

On the wedding morning, do things that make you feel calm – Luke went to the spa in the hotel and Hannah got ready with her mum and sister, and bridesmaids popping in and out with a fun playlist on!

Walking down the aisle and seeing each other is just the best feeling in the whole world so make sure to embrace that as it is over in the blink of an eye. We want to have this feeling all over again!!!
