We love it when a couple takes advantage of their wedding as a way to showcase their hometown pride. So naturally we’re obsessed with the Scottsdale, Arizona, wedding of Jessica, a 4th grade teacher, and Daniel, an actuary. Both born and raised in the Phoenix metro area, these two love the dramatic landscape of their home state and wanted to showcase it for their guests.
Even though the couple had to cut down their guest list to just close family and their wedding party for their March 2021 wedding in light of the pandemic, they were still able to make it official at their original venue, McCormick Ranch Golf Club, with an outdoor chuppah overlooking the sunset over Camelback Mountain in the distance. Doesn’t get much more quintessentially Arizona than that – don’t miss the gorgeous photos by Ryan Nicole Photography.
We’re also obsessed with the couple’s wonderful ketubah was designed and created by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Noa Attias. Jessica loved it so much that after seeing the finished product, she ordered a challah board by Noa Attias as her wedding gift to Daniel!
Now over to the bride, who looked ever so elegant in Pronovias…
How we Met
Jessica, the bride: We were both advisors for BBYO and met at my first meeting as an advisor.
Venue and wedding plans
We got engaged in October 2019 and immediately started planning. We were about 80% done planning by the time Covid-19 arose a year out from their wedding. Although at the time we thought it would not inhibit our plans, it did. We were still able to get married on our original date March 20, 2021 at our original venue McCormick Ranch Golf Club with our closest family and wedding party with a dinner at Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn afterwards. We plan to have a limited reception at the golf club on December 18, 2021.
All About Arizona
We wanted our wedding to highlight the beauty of Arizona. We are both born and raised in the Phoenix metropolitan area and love living in Arizona. We got married on the golf course at sunset with Camelback Mountain in the background – our dream wedding ceremony view.
Invitations / stationery
We did not utilize invitations for our ceremony, but we will for our reception. We do not have those plans worked out quite yet.
Hair + Make-up
Allie Laree Beauty did my hair and make up. I wanted to look natural and radiant! I knew I wanted to wear my hair up because the back of my dress NEEDED to be showcased.
A Pronovias Dress
My dress was Despina by Pronovias and was purchased from Luv Bridal in Phoenix, Arizona. This was the dress that made me feel beautiful and like a bride. It was perfect in every way. I knew it was the one because the one I tried on fit me like a glove – no clips needed! I also want to mention my alterations were done by Tailored in White. They are a magnificent woman-owned and run company.
Accessories
I wore diamond earrings purchased from Robbins Brothers jewelers in Scottsdale, Arizona – the same place my wedding band and engagement ring were purchased from. The earrings were a wedding gift from Daniel.
Shoes
I wore jeweled Badgley Mischka open-toed heels.
The handsome groom
Daniel wore a The Black Tux navy blue suit with a paisley navy blue tie and brown Cole Haan shoes. He wore his grandfather’s brown leather watch.
Bridesmaids
The girls wore long dusty rose dresses from Azazie.
Ceremony
Our ceremony was small. Our officiant was the cantor who performed my Bat Mitzvah and since became a best friend to my parents, which was really special for me. My favorite part was our vows.
Ketubah
Our Ketubah was designed and created by Noa Attias. We loved it so much that I ordered a challah board from her as my wedding gift to Daniel.
Chuppah
Our Chuppah was very simple to allow the natural background to be the true setting of our wedding.
Our Music Choice
Our first dance song was to ‘Dreams’ by Imaginary Future. We had all of our songs (before the ceremony began and the processional) acoustic versions of popular songs. It really set the tone for a calm, meaningful day.
Flowers
Our florist was Kayla from Honeyseed Flower Co. We had a mixture of white, navy, and bright orange flowers. I wanted something that would pop and Kayla nailed it.
Photographer and videographer
Our photographer was Mariel from Ryan Nicole Photography. I loved their work because of how light, airy, and romantic it looked. Our videographer was Simply Cinema.
Food and Cake
Our dinner was held at Lon’s at the The Hermosa Inn. Our wedding cake was by AJ’s Fine Foods.
Extra details
- Daniel refused to see any picture of me in a wedding dress so when we did our first look, it was the first time he had ever seen me in a wedding dress and he was totally surprised!
- We did a groomsmen first look with me before Daniel and it was SO fun!
- We did private vows and public vows, which I thought ended up being really special.
- We did a livestream by our videographer (linked) for all of our friends and family at home. I think this should be a part of ALL weddings from now on. It was so special knowing EVERYONE we love was able to watch even though they weren’t able to be there in person.
Honeymoon
We are going to Costa Rica after our reception in December for 1 week!
