We’re so in love with the classic Jewish wedding of Mimmi, a makeup artist, and Justin, who works in finance! Being a wedding pro herself, it’s no surprise Mimmi pulled together an absolutely picture-perfect day, with everything from an ultra-elegant custom gown by Paloma Blanca to a stunning floral chuppah to magazine-ready photos by Lace & Luce.
While Mimmi always thought she’d do her own wedding day makeup, a month before the big day she realized it would be too stressful and made the smart decision to book Faces by Tess, who did a totally fabulous job while also freeing Mimmi up to focus on the spirituality of her special day.
We’re also obsessed with Mimmi and Justin’s exquisite paper cut ketubah, custom designed by the talented Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Noa Attias in Israel!
And did we mention that the couple opted to end their big day with a henna party, in honor of Justin’s Moroccan heritage? Obsessed!
We’ll let Mimmi and Justin fill you in on the rest…

How we Met
Mimmi, the bride and Justin, the groom: Justin saw Mimmi at the library two years ago. He usually never approaches girls as he is really shy and conservative but this time he just had to approach her because she looked absolutely beautiful. Once he approached her there was no looking back.
A few months later Justin suffered a serious panic attack that landed him in the hospital, he had an existential crisis for 3 months and didn’t feel like the same person he once was. Mimmi was there for him during these 3 months, they got to know each other on a mental, emotional, and spiritual level. After these few months Justin knew what he had in front of him and wasted no time to propose with a beautiful custom designed radiant cut diamond. Six months later we are married!
Venue
We choose to get married at Hazelton Manor in Woodbridge Ontario because of its classical aesthetic. We wanted a royalty, timeless, polished look and it looked fabulous in photos!
Theme
We are so blessed to have had the most incredible wedding planner and friend – Sandy Hayms who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly on our wedding day and made it beyond perfect! I would describe our wedding theme as classic and timeless. The colour scheme we went for was silver and pink which looked fantastic in black and white photos.
Invitations / stationery
Our wedding invitations were designed by the incredible Shirel Krafman from Stuff I Krafted who worked tirelessly to ensure they were perfect! She also designed our centrepieces, welcome sign and place cards.
Hair + Make-up
As a makeup artist I always thought I would do my own wedding day makeup. A month before the wedding I realized it would be too stressful to bring my entire kit and just wanted my day to be calm and revolve around spirituality and praying so I found Tess Buchatsky from Faces by Tess whose work I absolutely adore and she killed it with my wedding day makeup! Not only did she do an incredible job with my makeup but she also has the calmest energy and calmed me down the entire day. She stayed all night for touch ups and was extremely reliable.
Kirsten McIntosh is the most talented hairstylist I know and had the honour of her doing my stunning wedding day hair. She’s an editorial hairstylist and I’ve previously worked with her on set years ago. I always admired her flawless work and knew she would do my wedding day hair one day! She did such a fantastic job with my hair and stayed all night for touch ups!
Dress
I always wanted a simple but “wow” wedding dress. I shopped around many bridal shops and just couldn’t find ‘the one’. Luckily my family friend owns a beautiful bridal shop called Paloma Blanca Bridal. They made an exception for me and custom designed my gown from scratch and created the wedding dress of my dreams! We sat down months before the wedding and sketched out my dress and went to countless fittings until it was absolutely perfect.
My vision was classic and clean. We went for mikado fabric which is a luxurious type of silk to give my gown structure and shine. We also added crystals on the sleeves and back bodice of the dress. It turned out beyond anything I ever expected! My second wedding dress was also custom designed. A simple silk slip dress with sleeves was perfect to change into for dancing!
Accessories
My beautiful veil was also custom made by Paloma Blanca Bridal to go perfectly with my gown! I wore a large crystal hair piece from Swarovski and my earrings were from Moshe’s Fine Jewelry. I wore a diamond necklace that my sweet husband gifted me on our wedding day and my engagement ring of course.
Shoes
I wore silver open-back heels from Gianvito Rossi that matched beautifully with the silver crystal beading on my gown. The height wasn’t too high to avoid any tripping when walking down the aisle. I also bought a pair of flat silver shoes from Ted Baker that I got to change into for the dancing!
The handsome groom
My handsome groom Justin wore a custom made suit from Italy paired with a black silk bow tie, Louboutin shoes, Gucci cufflinks and belt. When I saw him at kabbalat panim for the first time my heart was racing and I couldn’t believe how handsome he looked! He looked like a model. So classy and polished just the way I like!
Bridesmaids
I had seven bridesmaids and my little six year old sister was my flower girl. All my beautiful bridesmaids wore blush pink dresses with beading and my cute little sister wore a white silk dress to match with mine!
Ceremony
Our favourite part of the ceremony’s was seeing each other for the first time in a week at kabbalat panim. All the anticipation had built up and we were so excited to finally see each other! The moment we finally saw each other, all the nerves and stress went away. It was one of the most special moments in our lives.
Ketubah
Our ketubah was custom designed by the talented Noa Attias in Israel! We found her through Instagram just one week before our wedding as we were scrambling to find that perfect ketubah! She made our vision come to life with that beautiful paper cut design that we were looking for and she customized it to fit our vision.
Chuppah
I’ve always dreamt of my chuppah being filled with flowers from top to bottom. Our chuppah turned out so beautiful with over a thousand white and pink roses put on an acrylic chuppah structure with a white talit hung in the centre. Leonard’s Designs went above and beyond with creating the chuppah of my dreams come to life! We also had AXE media group put white vynil flooring to cover the stage under the chuppah to give it that shiny surface effect.
Our Music Choice
We had Lucas from It’s Pure Entertainment as our DJ! Lucas went above and beyond with the smoke, sparklers and confetti shots. We chose ‘Boi Beshalom’ by Ben Snof for the bride to walk down the aisle to and ‘Kamu Baneha’ by Yaakov Shweky as our first dance song. Both of those songs are so special to us.
Flowers
My bouquet was a medium sized hand tied floral arrangement with white orchids and pink roses by Leonard’s Designs. The delicate orchids were so beautiful and matched my wedding dress beautifully.
Photographer and videographer
We chose Lace & Luce as our photographers and we are SO happy we did! Their style of work was exactly what we were looking for! They have that editorial clean style and we absolutely adore all their work. They made our photos look like they are from a magazine. They really went above and beyond and were so attentive to capturing all of our important moments from the signing of the ketubah all the way to the end of the henna. They worked so hard for 12 hours.
For video we chose Bird Media House whose work is so exceptional. Our video turned beyond stunning and they did not miss any of our important moments! Their energy was so calm and they were such a pleasure to work with. Extremely professional and talented!
Food and Cake
On the menu was a mixture of Moroccan and Italian food made by the incredible Elys Fine Foods. For whomever didn’t stay for the dinner, they received a to go box which included all the dinner items. We had a 5 course meal which included, grilled salmon, rice, salads, meat cigars, grilled chicken, and steak. Pasta for the kids, chicken fingers fires and the burgers. The dessert table had an assortment of Moroccan sweets, fruit, cupcakes, and pastries.
Entertainment
At the end of the wedding we decided to do our henna party which was definitely the highlight of our night! With the groom being Moroccan it is their tradition to do a henna so we thought it would be really special to incorporate it at the wedding and make our day that special touch.
The entire bridal party changed into kaftans and the bride and groom were put on chairs to be carried out into the ballroom followed by women who danced with platters of moroccan sweets around us while authentic moroccan music played! Once the out us down we were sat into chairs and had a Henna mixture out into the palm of our hands and the grooms family gifted the bride with gold jewelry.
Honeymoon
Mimmi’s sister got married only nine days after her in Miami, Florida! So we flew in to Florida the week of our wedding as a pre-honeymoon and stayed at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood which was incredibly beautiful and we definitely recommend it! We are so excited and looking forward to our “real” honeymoon to Mykonos Greece next month!
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
My advice would be to stop working on the wedding the week before and simply take time to yourself. Make sure you are completed and done with all of the wedding planning ahead of time! It’s a stressful time and you want to take this special time in and enjoy every moment. Disconnecting from electronics on the wedding day and praying/meditating helped me stay present and savour every second.
Justin’s advice: Just do it.
