We are OBSESSED with the urban rustic ambience Casey, an elementary school teacher at a Jewish day school in Atlanta, and Scott, who’s in sales at a security company, brought to their winter Jewish wedding. Taking cues from their super cool venue, King Plow Arts Center – full of exposed brick galore – the pair went for a country-meets-city vibe focused on neutrals interspersed with succulents and greenery, and we’re in love! Don’t miss theexquisite photos from Ember Studio and video from Rusticus Films.
And REALLY don’t miss Casey and Scott’s gorgeous ketubah by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Noa Attias. Crafted in the artist’s trademark paper cut style, Noa crafted a modern piece in dark and light silvers that the couple now proudly displays in their home as the true piece of art it is.
We also love the couple’s sweet wintry wedding favors: each guest got a mason jar filled with hot cocoa, marshmallows and a personalized wooden spoon labelled with Casey and Scott’s wedding hashtag (@GREENEwontheGOLD) and a sticker on top that said “It Just Got Real. Enjoy something Hot, Love Casey and Scott” – cute!
Now over to the bride, who looked ravishing in Calla Blanche…
How we met
Casey, the bride: We met on Jswipe!
Industrial Rustic
Our venue was King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia. We chose this venue because of the beautiful exposed brick and rustic vibe of the space. It really complimented our vision for the wedding.
Rustic Greenery
My mom and I did all of the planning ourselves, we just had a day of planner, Golden Pineapple Weddings, to help with the commotion on the special day. We wanted a lot of rustic elements and greenery throughout. Everything was neutral with pops of green from the succulents and greenery.
Invitations
We found the template of our invitations on Minted.
Hair + Make-up
My hair and make-up was by The Moore Agency. I wanted a natural look / not too made up because I don’t wear a lot of makeup in general. I had my hair down with big curls with one side pulled back with a sparkly clip for a little something special.
A Calla Blanche Dress
My dress was the Noelle Style (ivory with ivory lining) by Calla Blanche and from Wedding Angels
I have always loved watching bridal dress shows and imagining what I would wear. I have always seen myself in a fit and flare to show off my body that I’ve worked hard for (especially before the wedding!)
Accessories
I wore a veil for the ceremony for traditional purposes that was also from Wedding Angels. It was very long and flowed down the aisle. I also wore a sparkly clip in my hair from Amazon for $5 to make my hair style a little more special since it was down and curled.
Shoes
My shoes were Badgley Mischka two inch heels with lots of sparkly stones and ivory satin. I wanted lower heels because Scott and I don’t have much of a height difference and I didn’t want to be taller than him.
The handsome groom
He wore a sleek, fitted black tux. He always wanted a formal wedding and he got a custom tux for the occasion from Sid Mashburn in Atlanta.
Bridesmaids
I had 10 bridesmaids who all wore taupe dresses from Azazie. I gave the bridesmaids a fabric and color and they could pick from any of the hundreds of styles on the affordable website.
I like the look of everyone in different styles but the same fabric and color. Each girl was comfortable with they style that they chose.
They tied into the theme because they were neutral but elegant.
Ceremony
We used my father’s tallis when we were blessed under the chuppah. We also had all of our family standing under/beside the chuppah. My parents are South African and it is a tradition in South Africa for all family to stand under the chuppah with the bride and groom.
A Paper Cut Ketubah
My ketubah was absolutely gorgeous and was designed by an amazing paper cut artist, Noa Attias. She was amazing and she customized the colors to make my vision a reality. I chose dark and light silvers with a very modern design because that is the style of our home where it will be hanging.
Chuppah
Our chuppah was drift wood to go along with the rustic theme.
Music Choice
Processional – Ed Sheeran: ‘Thinking Out Loud’ (as retinue walked down the aisle)
Bob Dylan: ‘Make You Feel My Love’ (as bride walked down the aisle)
Recessional – Hal and Oats: ‘Make My Dreams Come True’
Introduction to Reception: Earth, Wind & Fire: ‘September’ (changed the lyrics to “Do you remember the 21st night of DECEMBER)
First Dance – Lonestar: ‘Amazed’
Flowers
The venue has their own florist and caterer, Bold Events, that we used.
We had a lot of succulents and greenery with pops of white. There was a leafy table runner on the head table and lots of leaves on either side of the aisle.
Photographer and videographer
Our photographer, Ember Studio and videographer, Rusticus Films, were both chosen from recommendations.
Food and Cake
Our catering was done by Bold Entertainment (the venue’s caterer)
For cocktail hour we had a few passed hor d’ouvres and a stainless steel traveling wall that had lots of options that guests could take from the wall and it moved so that everyone got to get something regardless of where they were standing in the room.
For dinner we had three different stations – Asian Noodle/Rice Station (wok prepared beef/veggie lo mein or chicken fried rice), Carving Station (carved meat, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes), Mediterranean Station (lots of salads, fire roasted salmon, cheeses)
Our cake was a layered cookie cake with buttercream icing, from Publix.
Entertainment
We had Emerald Empire Band – we love to dance and love live bands.
Cocoa Favors
Since the wedding was in December, it was cold out and each guest got a mason jar filled with hot cocoa, marshmallows and a personalized wooden spoon labelled with our wedding hashtag (@GREENEwontheGOLD) and a sticker on top that said “It Just Got Real. Enjoy something Hot, Love Casey and Scott”
Honeymoon
We stayed at a fabulous all-inclusive resort called Unico in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The food, entertainment, service and scenery were amazing!
We found this amazing place from a travel company called Private Bookings.
