This gorgeous Jewish wedding is ALL about the colors! From the pink and orange florals to the exuberant invitations to the bold mix-and-match bridesmaids dresses to the exuberant Tree of Life ketubah from Shell Rummel via Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com, the nuptials of Heidi, who is dean of instruction at a charter school in Baltimore, and Max, an architecture grad student, is just so vibrant and full of joy.
And we love the simple birch chuppah, artfully adorned with some asymmetrical florals (in pink and orange, natch) and greenery – which just goes to show you don’t have to go all out on the flowers (or the spending) to create a high-impact floral chuppah.
We also think it’s super cute that the pair opted to marry right where they met, at Bolton Street Synagogue! Not only are Heidi and Max members of the congregation, but they laid eyes on each other for the very first time at a musical improv class taking place in the synagogue’s basement – awwww!
Urban Row Photography captured the day so perfectly – don’t miss these joyous, energetic images!

A Synagogue Wedding
Heidi, the bride: We first met at a musical improv class in the basement of the Bolton Street Synagogue. I was the more experienced improv student, and Max was more of a rookie. But we both loved (and still love) singing and improvising. Funny fact, my mother happened to be in town visiting on the night of our first class.
That night, when our class went out for post-improv drinks, Max met his future mother-in-law on the same night that he met his future wife. Though Max didn’t sit next to me at the bar, we connected briefly by realizing that both of our mothers’ names are Barbara. Getting married in the place we first met and are members of the congregation to this day, Bolton Street Synagogue, was an easy choice of a venue for us.

Bold Colors
I love all things color, so I wanted to incorporate bold colors and designs into the wedding. With the help of my planner, Nouvelle Weddings, we designed a bright and colorful, yet classic and elegant wedding.

Invitation
I love color and wanted our invitations to be bold, vibrant, fun and colorful.

Accessories
I wore a floor length veil with lace edge detail for the ceremony. The hairpiece had pearls, crystals and rose gold in a design that coordinated with the botanical beaded dress detail. I embraced my love of glasses and had a special light blush pair she wore just for her wedding day.

Shoes
I wore gold flats as her wedding shoes to be sure she was the most comfortable while dancing the Hora!

Hair + Makeup
My hair + makeup was done by Up Do’s for I Do’s. I chose to wear a special pair of glasses to stay true to myself and the way I am most comfortable.

The handsome groom
Max wore a gray suit with an ivory floral tie with red and yellow flowers on it that matched his boutonniere. His groomsmen all wore similar ties with a red and orange floral pattern and orange boutonnieres. Their pocket squares all matched in the red/orange floral pattern. Max had cuff links that said ‘Keep Calm and Say I Do’, the perfect touch of something blue!

Bridesmaids
The lace Rent the Runway dress my sister (my MOH) wore was the perfect amount of texture and pattern in shades of turquoise, salmon and poppy colors against the solid colors of the other bridesmaid’s dresses that were red, terracotta, magenta and purple.

chuppah
I liked the idea of a birch structure. So, we started with that and then added a beautiful asymmetrical design of bright, colorful florals to complement the rest of the wedding design.

Our music choice
For Max: Wilder Atkins – ‘When I’m Married’ | Processional for Bride: Rhett Miller – ‘Question’ | Recessional: Siman Tov u’Mazel Tov | First dance: Ashanti & Ja Rule – ‘Helpless’

Flowers
The florist was Scentsational Florals. I wanted to stick with big, bright, colorful flowers throughout with very little whites and neutrals. Specific blooms included dark red hearts roses, fuchsia roses, coral roses, white freesia, orange and peach ranunculus, and gunni euchalyptus and ruscus greens.

Photographer
We did not have a videographer and instead chose to prioritize our photographs. Our planner, Nouvelle Weddings, recommended Naomi of Urban Row Photography because her fun, approachable and joyful personality was a great match with us; Urban Row Photography’s style is bright and dynamic, which complimented the energy of their wedding.

Food and Cake
Zeffert and Gold catered the wedding… the cake from Sugar Bakers Cakes was simple and classic with accent florals in bright, warm colors on a magenta tablecloth and a fun cake topper of the bride grabbing the groom!

Entertainment
We decided on a DJ with Crow Entertainment and a Pixilated photo booth. We wanted a wide range of music and decided that a DJ was the best way to go for that.

Additionally, we had many guests who may not be big dancers so wanted to have another form of entertainment.
