A Suzanne Neville Bride for a Destination Jewish Wedding at the Great Synagogue and Villa Miani, Rome, Italy

28/01/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding at Great Synagogue and Villa Miani Rome Italy_0038
We always love seeing what wedding pros choose for their own big days. On one hand, they’ve got a leg up knowing all the ins and outs of the industry. But on the other, when you’re surrounded by amazing wedding vendors day in and day out, how do you choose?!

Today’s beautiful bride Laura is a London-based wedding planner, and we’re not surprised that she and Moshi, a financial adviser, picked a whole roster full of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors for their beautiful destination wedding in Rome: from ultra-creative videographer Denee Motion (love that drone footage!) to a 10-piece band by the amazing Totem to a beautiful, colorful ketubah by artist Veronique Jonas from Ketubah.com, they went for some of the very best of the best.

And then there’s Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Italian Wedding Company. Being a planner’s planner is no easy job, but Stefania and Vanessa handled it with aplomb, helping Laura realize the wedding of her dreams despite her planning from abroad and speaking not a word of Italian.

Photographer Paul Toeman captured all the emotion of the day — not to mention the gorgeous setting — so perfectly, and we can’t get enough of the couple’s adorable wedding hashtag, #moshandbecks.

We’ll let Laura, who looked stunning in Suzanne Neville, fill you in on the rest…

How We Met

Laura, the bride: He was sitting next to a friend’s husband one year and asked who was sitting next to his wife. After cancelling what would have been our first date and re-connecting a year later, we met up and the rest is history!

An earthy pastel-themed Jewish wedding at Villa Miani, Rome, Italy

13/01/2017 by Karen

jewish-wedding-italy
We can’t help it — at STG we’re total suckers for a romantic destination wedding, and destinations don’t get much dreamier than the rustic Italian hills overlooking the whole of the city of Rome (the groom’s favourite childhood beauty spot, no less).

This earthy, natural and pastel-accented beauty was submitted by much-loved Smashing Supplier wedding planner, Italian Wedding Company and we just adored swooning over the pictures and hearing Americans, Lynell and David’s, touching account of their big day.

First of all, can we just talk about the dà©cor scheme? Enchanted foliage and moss-heavy foundations decorated with soft and chic ballet-pink pastel hues, and that Chuppah! It all looks like something out of a contemporary adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream — whimsical and with a real wow-factor, captured expertly by photographer Joe Kathrina.

While this real wedding is undoubtedly stunningly beautiful, it was also rich with emotion. Having grown up glued to her parents’ wedding video, where her mother walked down the aisle to Sunrise Sunset (we like Fiddler on the Roof just a bit, didn’t you know?), romantic Lynell chose the same song to make her entrance.

And this part of David and Lynell’s write up stopped us in our tracks: most couples would be upset about rain on their wedding day, but when it started to lightly drizzle right after the vows were exchanged, bride Lynell said it was like the sky was crying happy tears with them. We’re not crying — you’re crying!

We could go on for hours about this wedding’s magical moments, from the food (don’t read this while hungry — don’t say we didn’t warn ya) to a particularly adorable idea involving sparklers, but we’ll hand over to the happy couple now to tell you all about their day, in their own words.

Lynell, the bride: We got married in Rome. Surrounded by our closest family and friends we said forever at Villa Miani in Monte Mario, a hilltop villa overlooking all of Rome.

David had lived in Monte Mario with his family when he was in high school, and one of his favourite things about living there was being able to see the most beautiful view of the entire city. To have that same view as the backdrop for our wedding was something neither of us will ever forget.

Liora & David | Italian Jewish wedding at the Great Synagogue of Rome and Villa Miani, Rome, Italy

03/08/2015 by Karen

Italian-Jewish-Wedding
Liora and David met through their parents, when David’s family invited Liora and her family over for Friday night dinner. That sabbath meal led to romance and an even more romantic wedding in Italy.

The magical city of Rome provided the inspiration for Liora and David’s chic destination wedding and there are some really wonderful touches. Take the Italian vespa for their wedding transport, a smorgasbord of Italian desserts instead of wedding cake (hello, lashings of tiramisu), and the choir of the Great Synagogue of Rome providing the music for their ceremony. Oh my!

Mr STG and I traveled to Italy for our honeymoon and it really is one of the most gorgeous places on earth. The landscape, the buildings — what an amazing place to be married. Liora and David held their ceremony at the breathtaking Great Synagogue of Rome followed by a BIG party at Villa Miani with breathtaking 360 ° views over the Rome skyline(and can we all just take a moment to appreciate their entrance song — the super fun A Far l’Amore featured in Paolo Sorrentino’s movie, The Great Beauty, set in Rome).

The whole affair was beautifully planned by our much loved Smashing Supplier, Stefania Zen from the Italian Wedding Company. Liora says that Stefania was literally her right arm throughout the planning process, and knowing how wonderful the Italian Wedding Company are, I can very much vouch for that. Big thanks also to Vinicio Ferri and Alessandro Zingone for the wonderful photos.

Come on, let’s take a look…

An Ines Di Santo bride for a destination Jewish wedding in the Italian countryside at Relais Sant’Uffizio, Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy

02/06/2015 by Karen

Jewish-Wedding-Italy
Today we are heading to the region of Piedmont in Italy for a sunshine-soaked destination Jewish wedding. Piedmont is not only breathtakingly beautiful, it’s also  a gastronomic gem and famous for its wine production. It was therefore the perfect location for the wedding of self-proclaimed foodie couple, Jacqueline  and  Florian, who live in  New York City.

Theirs is a wedding  of pure elegance, creativity and authentic Italian touches. Those touches range from  a team of local Piedmont Flag Throwers greeting them at their recessional, to having an actual Nutella bar at the party! Yes, Piedmont is the birthplace of Nutella — the region  is full of hazelnut fields and as a tribute to this, there was an actual  Nutella bar (I die), and additionally a local bakery made the region’s famous Torta alle nocciole e brindisi con  — essentially a hazelnut-filled wedding  cake.

I adore  the “Recipe for Love” screen printed tea towel save-the-date  too — such  a great idea for a foodie couple. And I haven’t even begun to tell you about the florals (you need to see the  bouquets!), or the  fact that these two  were actually married by Italy’s first female  rabbi, Barbara Aiello.

I think what Jacqueline  and  Florian  teach us is that even if you get married abroad, it can still be a really personal affair, filled with the most important things  to you  — in their case, that’s family, friends, fantastic  food and wine, great music, and an appreciation and respect for a variety of bridged cultures and traditions.

The whole affair was planned lovingly and meticulously by our much loved Smashing Suppliers,  Valentina and Ernesto Troncarelli from the  Italian Wedding Company. Jacqueline has so much love for them, and rightly so.

Without further ado, I’ll let the beautiful bride  transport you to Italy with her detailed report, alongside  Gianluca and Mary Adovasio‘s  beautiful photography and  Riccardo Lavezzo‘s film.

Ciao bella! Super stylish Italian weddings with the Italian Wedding Company

21/05/2015 by Karen

Weddings-in-Italy-2 Is there any place more instantly connected with romance than Italy? The land of enchanting lakes, rolling green vine-covered hills and azure-blue sea. It’s certainly a country of contrasts, from its cosmopolitan historic cities, up to the majestic snow-topped Alps and back down to stunning heat-seared coastlines… with, of course, peerless cuisine and wines to make them the envy of the world.

I’ve blogged my fair share of Jewish Italian weddings on Smashing The Glass already, and in a couple of weeks time there’s another gem coming that was planned by the  Italian Wedding Company  – I can’t wait for you to see it! The Italian Wedding Company are really something special.  I snapped them up as  Smashing Suppliers, and today  I want to tell you a little bit more about  why I’m so fond of them.
