THREE FACTS: (1) Danny proposed to Maggie on his birthday! (2) Maggie is in the process of converting to Judaism (3) Maggie is a member of STG Brides Club!
Well this may be my last blog post as a single woman, our wedding is just a month away! As the wedding gets closer, the more excited I have become. Now is this a common problem when looking at your upcoming wedding; deciding if you are more excited to marry the love of your life or to see all your friends and family in one place. I think especially after the pandemic this last year we are more excited than ever to see some of our vaccinated friends and family that we were not able to see for the last year.
As far as how life has been going as of late, Danny and I each were vaccinated last month. He reacted fine, I actually had to leave work after 30 minutes thanks to the reaction I had. Yep, just like most females I have fever like symptoms followed by my whole left side having muscle fatigue. Thankfully, I was only out for a day and now we feel safe to travel. I also am now an official graduate with a Masters in Hospitality Management.
Now my overachieving self is looking to start studying to get my certificate in Revenue Management. Danny should be starting soon with his Masters, maybe the fall but I am hopeful by then I can get a job in revenue management.
As far as wedding planning has been going, we are now finalizing everything. We had to create a backup plan for our Rabbi as our friend who is officiating our wedding is due with his first child just 2 weeks before the wedding. I have finished alterations on my wedding dress, and purchased wedding party gifts as of yesterday. Danny is dropping the ball with his and may have to change his idea.
We have a final floral consult as of the end of the month, my bachelorette party is coming up in about a week, and RSVPs should be done coming in by the end of this week since this past Sunday was our due date for those. (hint hint to those of you who are reading this and have not RSVP’d yet)
As far as RSVPs have gone we have had about 60% already reply with many more people saying yes than he and I imagined. My dad is excited because he just found out that his second parents (so his best friend’s parents) are coming to the wedding. Him and I are also most excited because it looks like all of his side of the family is coming to the wedding! We are a bit disappointed though that some of our friends and family cannot come, it appears we are needing to make a trip to New York, Ohio, and Connecticut in the near future.
Last month we went up to Michigan and had a lovely wedding shower hosted by my Aunts. It was a virtual shower so not what I was expecting at all but was still nice. We had a good turn out of people and were overwhelmed by how many presents we got! I did find that positives of having a virtual shower for those who are looking into that option, I was able to have friends and family there from all over the country that could not be at the shower otherwise.
Now as many people keep asking, we are planning to honeymoon in Fiji and Australia in early 2022 when hopefully restrictions are lifted there, we are also hoping to see his family in Australia that could not make it to the wedding. After the wedding though, after I chop off all my hair, we are hoping to drive down to New Orleans with a pit stop in Memphis to see the pandas. Neither of us have been to NOLA and the last time I was in Memphis was right before I met Danny.
Now I hope some of this advice has been helpful to other brides looking into planning a wedding now that the pandemic is starting to end. I can’t look forward to share with everyone the excitement from our big day!
