09/09/2021 by Karen Cinnamon

Ashley is a member of Smashing Life, our community membership club for Jewish + Jew(ish) women.

ABOUT ASHLEY

Where are you from? Los Angeles
What do you do for a living? VP of Sales for a fashion brand
How did you meet your partner?Fashion trade show in Atlanta— both of our brands were in the same showroom and Amanda hit on me with an awkward pickup line that I rebuffed, but I was secretly intrigued. We followed eachother on social media until we ended up both at another fashion trade show in Dallas two years later. We’ve been inseparable since.
When did you first know you were in love? When I flew to NY just to be able to spend a weekend with her while she was going for be away on a business trip.

ABOUT YOUR WEDDING

When and where did you get married? May 2018- Ambergris Caye, Belize
What was your wedding song for walking down the aisle? Simply the best ( acoustic version by Noah Reid from Schitt’s Creek)
How many guests did you invite to your wedding? 90
What was your favorite part of/thing about your wedding day? Having a blast with our favorite people— it was small enough to feel intimate but big enough to have an awesome and fun party!
Best wedding planning tip? Focus on the things that count for your guests to really have a blast— great music, open bar, and good food. The rest is just fluff.
Wedding vendors you would recommend? Las Terrazas Resort in Belize— they made it perfect for us.
Where did you go on honeymoon? We stayed in Belize
What does marriage mean to you? Partnership, friendship, and love. She’s my best friend and we make each other better.
Has your relationship with your partner changed since you got married? We started a two year fertility journey that has deepened our bond and appreciation for each other. There have been many ups and downs but we have learned how to cope with the wins and losses together. We obviously have now also gone through a pandemic together and have grown even closer while navigating the challenges of the last year and a half.
Secret to a happy relationship? Order dinner without making her pick the restaurant!

Fave Jewish festival Passover— I love going to Seder with my cousins
Fave piece of Judaica in your home My mom’s mezuzah

Top of your Bucket List: Trips to Machu Picchu and Croatia
Perfect weekend is… Going to the farmers market in the morning, taking our two yorkie’s to the dog park, and then snuggling in to watch a movie. If she agrees, then going to an Astro’s baseball game when they are in town playing an LA team is also a bonus.
Happiness is… Anywhere as long as we are together
