13/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Karyn is a member of our Brides Club for Jewish and Jew-ish brides, and we’re so excited for her wedding plans!

Inside Brides Club, I personally help you to minimize wedstress and overwhelm, and maximize your wedding budget. Oh – and every Brides Club member gets a free smash glass pouch (designed by me) for under the chuppah posted out to them too. Mazal Tov!

Come and join Brides Club too – for advice, discounts, community, sisterhood… and your sanity!

ABOUT KARYN

Where are you from? Goshen, New York
What do you do for a living? Retired nurse/homemaker
How did you meet your partner? He noticed me on a bus to Albany, New York and jumped into my taxi at the depot. By the time we got to campus, he’d charmed my number out of me.
Where did you go on your first date? I think we just walked around the campus, talking for a few hours.
When did you first know you were in love? 23 days later. About 2 weeks after HE said it first!
How long had you been dating when you became engaged?35 years, off and on. We’ve gone our separate ways, but always seem to come back together like iron to a magnet. It seems meant to be.
What date are you getting married and where?  November 11, 2022 at The Thayer Hotel at West Point, New York.

ABOUT YOUR WEDDING

Tell us about your wedding plans: Because Jonathan is a US Veteran, both the date (Veterans Day) and the location (West Point) are significant to us. Additionally, both of our fathers served and our son is in the New York Air National Guard. Jonathan is Jewish and although I am nominally Catholic, we are having a Jewish ceremony. Since our families are originally from Brooklyn, I have a lot of Jewish cousins, so it seems very natural and correct for us.
What’s the most important part of your wedding day? The ceremony itself, of course. But the special part will be having our closest family and friends there to share in our joy. After all, they’ve been waiting for this for a long time!
Fave Jewish wedding tradition? They are so lovely and meaningful, that it’s difficult to pick. I’d have to say smashing the glass is the most dynamic!
What does marriage mean to you? Having your spouse next to you and looking into each other’s eyes and saying in front of G-d and the whole world, “Yes. THIS is my Beloved. We are one.” It’s not 50/50, it’s 100/100. You’re both all in.
Best wedding planning tip (so far!): Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and stay on top of the overwhelm.
Sum up your wedding style in three words! Boho, Freeform, Autumnal
Dream fantasy wedding guests? David Tennant, Alton Brown, Helen Keller
Fave celeb wedding? Keira Knightley and James Righton. They just skeeted to the registrar and got it done. I admire that.

What do you love most about being a Brides Club member?

Honestly, Karen is such a joy and a help, with her videos, articles, and resources. I’d have to say she’s it! Having access to Brides Club is a game-changer!

ABOUT YOUR JEWISH LIFE

Fave meal to eat together on Friday night? Salmon or sushi
Fave Jewish festival? Passover. THE FOOD.
Fave Jewish food? Brisket. Or Latkes. Or Matzo Ball Soup.
Fave Jewish tradition? Telling the stories to the kids. Chanukah, Passover, Purim…Passing on the traditions is my fave tradition.

FUN STUFF

Top of your Bucket List: To go to Alaska with Jonathan.
Perfect weekend is… Lazy Saturday and going on adventures on Sunday.
Happiness is… Knowing that your loved ones can’t eat another bite!
