Jamie & John | Garden loft Jewish wedding with an amazing suspended floral chuppah at Open Secret Studios, Illinois, Chicago, USA

14/07/2015 by Karen

Jewish-wedding Chicago
Jamie and John’s big day is swoon-inducingly pretty. I love every single creative element — from the incredible suspended flower-covered chuppah, to the “best woman” dog wearing a custom satin harness made by the groom’s mum, to the illustrated invitations, programs, menus and place cards, all painstakingly hand-sketched and painted by the bride herself!

It’s just all so exquisite with so much creative input from both the bride and groom.

And the flowers just take my breath away. I expect muchos pinning action to be happening this morning – I for one will be pinning my heart out!

In a slight deviation from the norm, the narration of this W-Day comes directly from Becca Heuer, Jamie and John’s super talented wedding photographer who as it happens is getting married herself in a couple of months! Becca, take it away…

a super creative couple

Becca, the photographer: Jamie and John just make sense! Both as a couple and as a wedding in the making. Jamie having a design background and John having a logistics background, made for the perfect blueprint on this fabulous day.

Exquisite wedding stationery all hand-sketched and painted by the bride

The bride used to be a graphic designer, so she knew she had to design something special for her big day. She lovingly sketched the invitations, programs, menus and place cards, had them letterpress printed and then painted each one by hand.

An amazing suspended flower-covered chuppah

Jamie and John had an emotional and thoughtful wedding ceremony below a suspended flower-covered chuppah at the lofty Open Secret Studios in Chicago’s Near West Side. After they smashed the glass, Kerrie of City Girl Weddings put together quite the party filled with some of Chicago’s best vendors that went late into the night! It all went off without a hitch.

A vintage wedding dress for the bride, and a dapper suit  for the super stylish groom

Jamie wore an elegant vintage satin dress while John wore a navy suit with a quirky gingham shirt and patterned bow tie. It was great to see their style come through on the wedding day.

Fiona the dog as ring-bearer

The bride had a custom satin harness made for the ring bearer–their dog Fiona–so that she matched the intricate details of Jamie’s vintage dress. Fiona’s ‘outfit’ was custom made by the groom’s mum.

Imaginative details and creative touches

Everywhere I looked, there was another beautiful detail that I had missed before. Vintage elements, the bride’s dress, the farm tables, the un-fussy floral design that covered every nook and cranny of the loft, the modern white backdrop and every other little detail were what made this night so amazing. Jamie clearly had a vision for her big day that really came through.
