How We Met
Shira, the bride: Shira’s boss, Tal, is best friends with Yoav. One day, Tal asked Shira how she’d feel about being set up with his best friend. Believing in always giving things a chance, she said yes. She sent Tal pictures of herself, and her Facebook. Within two hours, Yoav Facebook messaged her, and the rest as they say… is history.
Venue
We got married in Kahi Resort; it was our first venue that we visited. It was between Kahi and Baya’ar. Eventually we wanted Kahi as our venue because we had the whole place to ourself. Also, we were able to have 12 of our friends and family stay with us at the villas and have an amazing breakfast the next day.
Theme + Wedding Planner
Our incredible wedding planner Vanessa Ohayon was the cherry on the cake, and the entire cake itself! She helped with everything you could think of, she provided emotional support and spiritual guidance, giving the entire planning process and the day itself meaning. We were surrounded by loved ones and had touches of cute memorabilia that made the day unique and personal to us as individuals and as a couple. The theme was to be bohemian chic dreamy to match with the venue vibe.
Invitation
Yoav’s friend designed our wedding invitations. We wanted something classic with the theme of Maldives to go with the venue.
Hair + Makeup
In our engagement pictures, Shira’s hair was covering her face. She decided for the wedding that she wanted to have a hairstyle that was half up so it did not cover her face. Alex Michal was the hairstylist, who did a beautiful job. As for makeup, Shira went with Anat Lichenstein.
Dress
My dress was from Eisen Stein in Tel Aviv Yaffo. I went to see about 10 wedding dress companies. Eventually, I decided on Eisen Stein because their dresses were so unique and the staff was amazing from the first meeting to the very last. Vanessa, my wedding planner, even joined me on the dress shopping journey!
Accessories + Shoes
For hair accessories, Shira bought some beautiful clips from Amazon. The wedding shoes were from Loeffler Randall. The second pair for the second dress were rhinestone cowboy boots my sister found for me.
Bridesmaids
I had 4 bridesmaid and my sister as my Maid of Honor. I chose the color, dark green (green) since I knew it would flatter all of their skin tones. They chose the dress, and it fit beautifully with the chuppah.
Ceremony & Chuppah
The chuppah was absolutely dreamy! Vanessa Ohayon introduced us to the designer we chose, Ortal from Odem Events. She just knew this was going to be the perfect match for us, and she was absolutely right, we loved Ortal and working with her! We got our ketubah from the Rabanut.
Our music choice
We had an amazing DJ, DJ – Uri Bronfman, who hit it on all our requests, but the highlight of the musical journey is when Yoav (the groom) went up to DJ a set of his own!!
Photographer and videographer
Our photographer Tzahi Shemesh was recommended by our once again fabulous wedding planner; Vanessa Ohayon. We knew that he was the right choice after our first meeting and feeling very comfortable with him. Our videographer, Nati Shako is a friend of Yoav’s.
Food and cake
Our venue, Kahi Resort, has Chief Moshik Roth. His food is incredible. We had a wedding and two birthday cakes (for Yoav’s best man, Tal, and my brother Ethan).
Extra Details
Tal, who set Shira and Yoav up (and is his best friend), had his birthday on our wedding day. It felt very significant to us, because it was the circle of our relationship. We wanted to celebrate Tal because of how good he has been to the both of us.
We designed a cake, by Sweet Shira, to present to him after our wedding cake. All their friends put on costumes and paraded around Tal. Shira’s brother, Ethan, had a birthday the next day, and since she did not want to take away from his day either, also designed a cake with Sweet Shira for him too. It was a sweet and special moment.
Honeymoon
Since Kahi was very Maldives-themed, we loved the idea of keeping up with it and honeymooning in the Maldives. We had a beautiful villa at Pullman, with a private pool and access into the ocean.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
Get a planner! They will keep you organized and calm and will prepare you for things you would never think of in a million years! Just have as much fun with it, and less stress. The best advice I received was that nothing will be as perfect as you plan and to just enjoy your night.
