Get ready for a truly fabulous Jewish wedding! UK couple Katie, a yoga teacher, and Tom, who works in recruitment, held their big day at Mallorca’s beautiful Jardines De Alfabia, and it was positively overflowing with Spanish charm, vibrant colors, and, above all, tons of Jewish joy.
The couple worked with their planner, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Elegante by Michelle J, to plan an unforgettable wedding weekend in Mallorca with their nearest and dearest, including a Friday night welcome party and a day of lounging by the pool Saturday prior to the main event. In Katie’s words, Michelle was “absolutely amazing – none of it would have been possible without her.”
We’re obsessed with the stunning floral chuppah, Katie’s gorgeous boho lace dress by Saint Bridal, and the duo’s wonderful wedding stationery, featuring an illustration of the venue (complete with the couple’s dog on the steps) by Anna Jayne Designs, and designed and printed by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Bigday Designs.
Photographer Violeta Minnick and videographer Soul Weddings captured the day so beautifully – read on for all the details in Katie’s own words…
How We Met
Katie, the bride: we met on a dating app during lockdown! Our first date was a walk round a lake.
A Wedding in Spain
We got married in Mallorca at the beautiful Jardines De Alfabia. It was the last venue we visited and it completely blew us away. We knew as soon as we arrived it was the venue for us. On arrival at the venue, guests walked through a beautiful entrance into a courtyard where we hosted our chuppah; we then took guests on a walk through the beautiful venue gardens (led by Totem’s sax player) to our drinks reception around a lake and then onwards for dinner and dancing on a decked area in a hidden area of the gardens. At midnight, we took guests back to the courtyard and indoors into the “discoteta” for the after party.
Theme + Planner
I always knew I wanted a more rustic vibe with a more relaxed feel. We have a dog (our baby) who we incorporated in the wedding invites and also with the menus. The colour scheme we went with pinks, reds, peaches, greens. I wanted it to look and feel Spanish.
We had a welcome party on the Friday night for all our guests at Balneario Illetas and we stayed at the Lindner Portals Nous with the majority of our guests, so Saturday around the pool was also a great vibe. Planning the wedding over a weekend enabled us to spend quality time with all of our guests. We did have a planner, Elegante by Michelle J who was absolutely amazing – none of it would have been possible without her.
Invitation
We had a painting of our venue on our invitations with our little doggy hiding on the steps. This was drawn by Anna Jayne Designs who works in collaboration with Bigday Designs. Bigday then designed and printed the invitations and all of the wedding stationery.
A Saint Bridal Dress
My dress was from Lovely Bride in Shoreditch; the designer was called Saint Bridal. The style was very boho fitted lace with lots of vine leaves and detailing on it. It was really comfy and I felt totally myself in the dress, which is what made me love it.
Accessories
I wore a Hermione Harbutt headdress
Bridesmaids
I had bridesmaids who wore a dress from Reformation which completely matched our theme and flowers. It was a white dress with pink florals.
Our music choice
We had the most amazing band, Totem, who totally brought the party. Our first dance song was a slowed down version of ‘Thinking of you’ Sister Sledge as it is one of our favorite songs and we love the lyrics.
Flowers
We had such an amazing florist, Paula Rooney, who was introduced to us by our planner. She is British and UK based – travelling for destination weddings – but this year she has opened up a base in Mallorca. She visited the venue with us on one of our planning trips and I really did put my trust into her and her team. I said I wanted the chuppah to look like it was part of the venue and almost growing up from the ground and discussed with her the colours I liked, and then totally let her have creative freedom.
Photographer and videographer
I had seen both Violeta Minnick and Soul Weddings‘ work on Instagram and I just knew I had to have them both. Violeta, our photographer, has the most beautiful soft, romantic, dreamy style which I thought would go well for our wedding.
Soul Weddings, our videographers, completely blew us away. The video they created for us was beyond anything we could have imagined and showcased our wedding in the best way.
Food
Grupo Amida provided all of the food and the drinks.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
The best advice I could give others would be to put your trust in the people you are working with. These people are professionals in what they do and they know what they are doing, so do not let yourself get hung up on really specific details and let the professionals handle everything!
