A Rustic Chic Jewish Wedding at Tarosa, Gedera, Israel

13/01/2025 by Karen Cinnamon

Lynn-and-Lahav-Tarosa-Israel

We love an Israeli wedding, and today’s is really something special! Lynn, who works in the exam department at Peres College, and Lahav, a civil engineer, made things official at Tarosa, which they chose for its rustic chic vibes and gorgeous details like solid wood tables and abundant fruit trees.

It’s really a stunner of a venue – and the couple’s photographer, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jossef Si, captured it all so beautifully. Lynn and Lahav loved that Jossef not only takes beautiful artistic photos but also excels at capturing all the little emotional moments that make the day so special – and they loved his energy on the day, too!

It was important for Lynn and Lahav to make their day personal, and we love that they worked with their rabbi to craft a ceremony that was meaningful to them, including having the rabbi tell their story as a couple and translate parts of the ceremony into English so loved ones not fluent in Hebrew still felt involved.

Read on for all the details in Lynn’s own words…

How We Met

Lynn, the bride: Lahav and I met over seven years ago at the beach in our hometown (Eilat) and have been inseparable ever since. Throughout these seven years we travelled to many places around the world, finished our degrees and moved three apartments until we finally decided it was time for us to get married.

Rustic Vibes

We chose to get married at a venue called Tarosa It was actually the first venue we saw. We fell in love with the venue because the style of it was similar to the way we styled our home so it made us feel very comfortable. We also loved that the venue has these beautiful rustic solid wood tables, they have gorgeous wooden doors and a variety of fruit trees and plants growing around.

Green and White

While planning our wedding we didn’t really have a theme in mind, I guess the color scheme turned out to be green and white but it wasn’t something that was planned. Because we loved the venue so much and thought it was beautiful as it is, we didn’t feel the need to do anything too grand when it came to decorations.

Invitation + stationery

In order to make our invitations I downloaded the Canva app on my phone and did a lot of trial and error until I was happy with the outcome, I than used the same design for the menus we placed on the tables at the wedding. After we had the invitations printed out we prepared snacks and made ourselves a little date night making clay coins with the wedding date and tying them to envelopes.

Dress

I spent two days dress shopping with my mother and sister, while it was a fun experience, I never had that “wow” moment. None of the dresses I tried on were quite right, so I decided I was going to design my own dress. I made a rough sketch of the dress I envisioned and took it to an excellent seamstress who made it come to life. I loved the shape of the dress and the lace I chose had beading that added some definition and sparkle that really elevated it in my opinion.

Ceremony & Chuppah

We managed to make our ceremony more personal by meeting up with our rabbi prior to the wedding. We talked about our expectations from him, what we would like to incorporate into the ceremony and what we would like to leave out. It was very important to us to have our rabbi tell our story as a couple and that he translated parts of the ceremony into English so that my father and other family members, who aren’t fluent in Hebrew, would feel involved.

What helped us choose our chuppah design was going on to Pinterest and searching for different ideas. When we found a design we liked I gave the venue’s florist a few reference photos and he made the chuppah look exactly as we wished. We decided to get married through Tzohar and they are the ones that gave us the ketubah.

Our music choice

We had a DJ Zahi Mashiach playing at our wedding that mostly played Israeli mainstream music besides a few songs we requested.

The song we chose for our first dance was ‘Shemesh’ by Hanan Ben Ari. This song is very dear to us because it was the song I would listen to every night while Lahav was fighting in Gaza. Having this song play at our wedding symbolized a mini “victory” that we made it through these hard times and we were so grateful to be able to get married.

Flowers

I had my bouquet made at Yam shel prahim, Rehovot. I asked for a bouquet with a variety of white flowers that wasn’t a typical round rose bouquet. I had a really good experience going to the store and felt they took the time to understand how I want my bouquet to look and sent me photos for approval as they were making it. For table centers, the venue’s florist offered us different types of wooden and glass vases and we gave him a free hand in choosing what flowers put in them.

Photographer and videographer

Out of all the choices I had to make for my wedding day I was most meticulous in choosing a photographer and videographer. We chose to have Jossef Si as our photographer and Kirill from Kossobok Production as our videographer. I stumbled across Jossef’s page on Instagram and we were lucky enough to have a close friend that had him as a photographer at his wedding to give us a review. What made us decide that we wanted him as our photographer was the way he not only took beautiful and artistic photos of our friend, he managed to capture many wholesome moments of him and his wife.

We were super happy with our choice since our photos came out looking absolutely stunning and Jossef had such a good energy and made us feel comfortable throughout the day. When it came to choosing a videographer we went with Kossobok Production since every video on their page looks like a cinematic masterpiece. We haven’t received our video footage yet but I am positive that it will look amazing.

Honeymoon

We have always loved exploring new places and are constantly on the hunt for the next interesting and exciting destination to visit. This time we plan on going to Japan in hopes of eating lots of good food, experiencing Japanese culture and seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms and landscape.

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding

If I had to give a piece of advice to future brides it would be to remember that you are going to be spending way too much money on your wedding day to not enjoy it, help yourself to a glass of wine with your bridesmaids and trust the professionals you hired to take the lead. Focus most of your energy towards your partner and celebrate each other because nothing else truly matters at that moment.
