We love an Israeli wedding, and Hilit and Alon’s does not disappoint! Israeli couple Hilit, a product manager, and Alon, a software engineer, had the most stunning celebration at 5.91 in Netanya, a gorgeous venue by the sea with breathtaking views and a dance floor big enough for their crowd of guests.
Planning a wedding with personal touches was a priority for Alon and Hilit, and they incorporated lots thoughtful details that made the day truly “them,” from owl-themed magnets (a nod to their army days when they first met) to creative guest activities like filling in cards with date ideas for the couple!
Mega-talented photographer and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jossef Si captured the wedding so perfectly. Each one of his images is a true work of art, and Hilit and Alon can’t stop raving about how comfortable Jossef made them feel – all while getting the kinds of glam shots that look like they came straight out of a movie!
Read on for the full story in Hilit’s own words…
How We Met
Hilit, the bride: We met during our service in the military, Alon came to Hilit’s course for a training session, and later on we served in the same base. We were good friends at first until Hilit made the first move and Alon took it from there.
A Venue by the Sea
We got married at 5.91 in Netanya. It’s a beautiful venue by the sea that just takes your breath away. The people were so nice and welcomed us with open arms. The venue is big, which was important to us since we had a lot of guests and many of them young, so we wanted the dance floor to be big and spacious.
Classic Elegance
First, we booked the best wedding planner. Danielle Zini, who helped us get everything in order super quickly. The color scheme was white and green, very fresh. The style was super classic, simple and elegant design. We planted little details in everything that made wedding about us- from the presents, candles that our house is filled with, food that was so us, and things we love – the magnets that had owls on it, which represent what we did in the army (where we met) – and to the wedding reception stand where guests could write us date ideas (who doesn’t lose creativity after 8 years together?), cards for our first, 5th and 10th anniversaries, and had a questionnaire about us.
Invitation
I designed the invitations on Canva! It was super easy and just like I wanted it to be.
Hair + Makeup
The most amazing, calming, and professional – Lee Brecher!
Bridesmaids
I had 5 bridesmaids, all my best friends! They got to wear whatever they wanted, it was most important to me that they feel good and comfortable and not just to be in the theme. I also got them hair and makeup so that they won’t have to worry about anything and would be able to enjoy the day with me.
Ceremony & Chuppah
Hilit’s uncle was the officiant at the chuppah (He’s a rabbi). On the way to the ceremony we used the song that was played at our the engagement. In the ceremony we had a special prayer for our soldiers and hostages to return home safely and quickly. Other than that, it was important to both of us to keep the ceremony short and special.
Our music choice
We both have a very wide taste in music, we created a playlist of our favorite songs and sent it to our DJ, DJ Shay Tsadik. He took it from there and it was the best ever party we’ve been to. We’re still getting comments from guests on the DJ! The DJ was one of our best choices ever made, he just knew what we want and totally went along with it and did an amazing job!!!
Flowers
The flowers were part of the design, we kept the color scheme of white and green with small and chic center pieces that made it easy for guests to talk with each other on different sides of the table.
Photographer and videographer
Our photographer was the one and only Jossef Si! Hiss work is just art, I don’t have the words to describe it. He knew how to make us feel comfortable and got pictures that look like they were taken on a movie set! Our videographer, Vision Art, stayed with us until the end of the night and got some very touching small moments of the night that pictures can’t capture fully!
Honeymoon
We’re going to Japan! One of the most interesting places on earth, where we’ll travel for a month before getting back to real life.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
Enjoy the process! The wedding itself is just one night, the way to it is part of the fun! Have date nights on the date of the wedding every month, and talk about how you imagine your day! On the wedding day, you can’t change almost anything, so you have no reason to stress about the little things that no one will remember that were or weren’t on your day. If you have a wedding planner, let them worry about things (and be sure they’ll fix everything)
