Create the Jewish Wedding Gift List of Your Dreams with Contemporary Judaica

It’s no secret that Contemporary Judaica is my very favourite source for stylish, modern Judaica in the UK. I’m obsessed with their gorgeous holiday popups in London’s picturesque Hampstead Village, and whenever I need a new piece for a holiday, a Jewish gift, or a gorgeous piece of Jewish jewelry, they’re always my go-to. But did you know that they also offer a fantastic wedding gift list service, easy to share with family and friends and complete with international shipping?

Why a Jewish Wedding Gift List?

Whether or not you want it, you’re going to have some guests who want to buy you Judaica – so you might as well make it easy for them to purchase pieces you’re guaranteed to love by setting up a Judaica gift list alongside your main registry.

Contemporary Judaica’s got so many different styles and options that you’re bound to find lots to love among their carefully curated selection. And even if you’re more of a honeymoon fund kind of couple, there’s no denying that there’s something so special about receiving timeless pieces you’ll use to celebrate Shabbat and holidays for decades to come – objects that may even become heirlooms to be passed down through the generations.

Every time you unpack that seder plate, or set your gorgeous Shabbat candlesticks out on Friday, it’ll be a sweet little reminder of the beginning of your Jewish journey together.

Why Register with Contemporary Judaica?

Based in NW London, Contemporary Judaica is a small business with a personal touch. Founder Danya Kay takes great pride in personally curating a handpicked selection of the most beautiful, fresh, and innovative designs from around the world – and she’s on a mission to make sure every Jewish or Jew-ish couple finds the kind of pieces they’ll be happy to display in their homes as works of art, all year round. There’s really nothing else like it in the UK, both in terms of the artful selection and the top-tier customer service.

Contemporary Judaica is based online, but there is an option to view the range from their North London address – and, as I mentioned earlier, throughout the year they run the most fabulous holiday pop up shops on Hampstead High Street where you can come view the whole range. Keep an eye out for the next pop up on Contemporary Judaica’s Events Page – they generally run before Pesach, Rosh Hashanah, and Chanukah.

If you’re not UK-based, Contemporary Judaica ships internationally and they have very preferential shipping rates, so do reach out.

How Does It Work?

It couldn’t be easier to set up your Jewish wedding gift list – just head over to the Create A List page on Contemporary Judaica’s website and get started adding the items you love!

Then, once your list is complete, just share it with your guests. You can share your list via email, text message, or social media. Guests can also find your list by using Contemporary Judaica’s search function, searching by either first or last name.

Family and friends can leave their name and a personalised message when they buy an item from your list.

What Should I Put On My Gift List?

Contemporary Judaica has everything you need to outfit your newlywed Jewish home – and then some. For starters, here’s a handy checklist with some pieces you might want to add to your list for the holidays and all year round:

  • Shabbat: challah board, challah knife, challah cover, Shabbat candlesticks, kiddush cup, washing cup, Havdalah set, match box
  • Chanukah: Chanukiah, dreidel
  • Pesach: seder plate, matzah plate, matzah and afikoman covers, Haggadah
  • Rosh Hashanah: honey dish, apple plate
  • Home: mezuzahs, kosher parchment scrolls, home blessings

Broken Chuppah Glass Art in Lucite Cube

You might also consider adding a special chuppah glass to be smashed on the big day! Contemporary Judaica sells beautiful glasses that can, once smashed into shards, be sent back in and transformed into a meaningful keepsake – choose from a mezuzah, Shabbat candlesticks, or a wedding glass art cube.

Magen David Medium Tallit with Matching Bag/Kippah in Black/Grey Stripe by Yair Emanuel

It’s traditional for brides to buy grooms a tallit for use under the chuppah on their wedding day and beyond – and if this is something you’ll be doing (or if you’d like a tallit for yourself in honor of the occasion!), Contemporary Judaica has the best selection.

Men’s Protective Prayer and Star of David Pendant on Box Chain in Silver by Penny Levi

Another possibility you might not have considered? Meaningful Jewish jewelry. Contemporary Judaica has a beautiful selection for both women and men.

And last but certainly not least, don’t forget that you can register for gift vouchers! If you’re not quite ready to commit, or you’re looking to save up for a big-ticket item, gift vouchers are the perfect option.
