Cool chuppah alert! Emily and Scott wanted their chuppah to make them feel like they were floating on a cloud – and they totally nailed it. Featuring an abundance of giant fabric flowers in white, combined with white hydrangeas and delicate blossoms, we’ve never seen anything quite like it – and we’re totally smitten.
It also goes perfectly with Emily’s stunner of a gown from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Galia Lahav: a custom style inspired by the beloved Israeli designer’s “Rosemary,” replete with the most exquisite 3D floral lace. It’s really something special – don’t miss it in the wonderful photos by Rebecca Searle.
We’re obsessed with the epic party vibes Emily and Scott set for their day – complete with the chicest use of disco balls we’ve ever seen. We’ll turn you over to Emily for the rest…
How We Met
Emily, the bride: My childhood best friend, Calum, worked with my now husband and after (husband’s words) fancying me from seeing me on Calum’s social media, Calum told me to meet him after work for drinks and without me knowing had told Scott to join. The rest is history…
Extra context: we dated for a few months and then Covid / lockdown started and I ended up being locked down in Scott’s family home (with Covid) for 2 weeks, a few weeks later and we’re madly in love.
A Magical Venue
The Wilderness Reserve. From the first second of arriving to tour the venue we knew it would become our special place forever. It’s just a magical place and we’ve had so many special family trips and weekend aways there and will continue to do so with our future family!
Fairy Tale Vibes
We used White Paper Event – they were simply incredible. Our wedding design was actually based off an AI image and a brainwave. We wanted the design to feel like a fairy tale and wanted our chuppah to feel like we were floating on a cloud. We also knew from the second we started planning that we wanted an epic party and we used the metallics, silver and white to help create it – MANY disco balls were used… in a chic way!
Invitation/Stationery
We created a bespoke illustration, by Natalie Spencer.
Hair + Makeup
Kym Mullem did my hair, Frankie Neal did my make up.
A Galia Lahav Dress
Galia Lahav. We did a custom dress based on “Rosemary”. We mirrored our asymmetrical chuppah with the asymmetry on the neckline of my dress. We also created a sharp, dramatic V at the back of the dress to replicate the V on the front of the dress. Rosemary was the first dress I tried at Galia Lahav – one my mum had picked out for me and from the second I first tried her on I knew she was the one!
Shoes
I had the Jimmy Choo Amel 50mm.
Bridesmaids
I chose to have my bridesmaids in silver sequin / metallic silver dresses – they all chose the styles they loved!
Ceremony & Chuppah
We had a truly unique ceremony. From the beginning of our meeting with our incredible rabbi, we all knew we wanted the ceremony to be truly about our love. We were taken down to our grandparents for a blessing, we read vows to each other, we bought up step parents for the kiddish cup and we took moments throughout to look out to everybody, be totally present and take in all the love in the room. It was truly the most special memory.
Our music choice
We had a string quartet, 3 vocalists, keys and sax for our ceremony – we spent days picking the perfect selection of music that not only meant a lot to us but also created the vibe we wanted our guests to feel from start to finish. We followed with a DJ and sax during our drinks reception. We had Superfly 12 piece show band for our dinner and party – our guests still haven’t stopped talking about how incredible they were. We finished the night off with a DJ and live sax at the after party which was an epic end to the most incredible day!!
Flowers
Ricky Paul bought our vision to life. We gave him the brief of “white wash, fairy tale, dreamland meets salt burn” and he DELIVERED. Apart from our chuppah, we went for a minimal design with detailed table linens and no flowers on tables. We had silk and organza mixed with big hydrangeas looking like they were growing out the ground and mixed everything in with disco ball details.
Photographer and videographer
Rebecca Searle. Within the first minute of first meeting with Rebecca, I knew she was the woman for us!
Lightbulb Films did our video.
Honeymoon
We’re going to the Maldives next year and booked with the incredible ByJodie Travel.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
Be present, take moments throughout to step aside with your partner and look at everyone – they’re there for you, it’s so surreal. Be a guest, not a host and remember that literally nothing else matters apart from you marrying the love of your life.
