Perhaps most important of all, the wonderful weddings team at Kimpton Fitzroy London is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Jewish weddings, and their level of serve and attention to detail is truly second to none. We can’t say it any better than real Jewish bride Ivi, whose incredible wedding we featured on STG:
The Kimpton Fitzroy is an absolutely rare gem – its glamorous opulence yet intimate warmth sets it worlds apart from the conventional swanky hotels a stone’s throw away in Mayfair. What we treasured the most is the loving way all of the hotel’s staff made us feel like royalty on our big day. No requests were too big or too small, we were met with smiles and genuine well wishes all day, we truly felt the hotel’s joy and pride of hosting us on the most special day of our lives. We are still pinching ourselves that we managed to get married in such an exceptional and luxurious venue. The Kimpton Fitzroy London will eternally be special to us and we cannot wait to return to spend our first wedding anniversary there!
But beyond the basics, there’s so much more to Kimpton Fitzroy London – and today we’re thrilled to be sharing some of our favorite unexpected facts about this one-of-a-kind London Jewish wedding venue. Read on for all the details!
A Romantic Bloomsbury Address
Located in Bloomsbury, an area synonymous with literature and romance, the hotel is surrounded by history and charm. From Virginia Woolf’s old haunts to the picturesque Russell Square Gardens, the setting is perfect for love stories—both written and lived.
The Grand Ballroom’s Fairytale Setting
Kimpton Fitzroy London’s ballroom is a spectacular space for weddings, accommodating up to 350 guests for a standing reception or 250 for a seated dinner and dancing. With high ceilings, dazzling chandeliers, and timeless elegance, it’s a dream venue for unforgettable celebrations.
The Ballroom’s Hidden Gem: The Mezzanine
Overlooking the main ballroom, the mezzanine level offers a private vantage point—ideal for an intimate moment before the big entrance, a VIP lounge, or a unique space for wedding photography.
The Palm Court: A Hidden Oasis
Adjoining the ballroom, the Palm Court is the most magical backdrop for reception drinks, with a soaring glass ceiling that floods the room with light, comfortable clusters of seating, an outdoor terrace, and lots of gorgeous greenery — the vibe is conservatory meets lounge meets members club, and it is exactly as fabulous as it sounds. Intimate yet fun, hip yet classic. We’re seriously in love with this place and it has got to be the best reception space to go with a ballroom wedding that we’ve seen in London.
An Array of Kosher Catering Options
Unlike so many London venues, Kimpton Fitzroy London works with not just one but three fabulous kosher caterers, ensuring there are options to suit all tastes. Choose from Ben Tenenblat, Eat Me, or Osher for kosher-certified menus, or opt for delectable kosher-style offerings from the in-house team or Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Adam Nathan Catering.
Suites with a Story
Kimpton Fitzroy London’s suites are designed with grandeur in mind, but a few stand out. The Fitzroy Suite—the hotel’s most luxurious—features stunning views of Russell Square and interiors that blend history with contemporary comfort, making it an ideal space for bridal preparations or honeymoon stays.
A Staircase Made for Show-Stopping Entrances
The hotel’s grand marble staircase is more than just a statement piece—it’s an Instagram-worthy backdrop and a breathtaking setting for wedding photos or a dramatic entrance to the reception.
The Iconic Terracotta Exterior
One of the most striking features of Kimpton Fitzroy London is its Grade II-listed terracotta façade, designed to resemble a 15th-century Italian palace. It’s a stunning backdrop for wedding photography, adding a touch of history to the big day.
A Tribute to Four British Queens
The hotel’s façade features statues of four iconic British queens—Elizabeth I, Mary II, Anne, and Victoria—paying homage to powerful women in history. A fitting detail for a wedding venue celebrating modern queens of their own.
The Titanic Connection
The original architect, Charles Fitzroy Doll, also designed the first-class dining room on the RMS Titanic. His signature Lucky George dragon sculpture—a version of which still resides in the hotel’s lobby—was also on the ill-fated ship.
