Hello there, I’m Angie and I’m a proud sponsor of Smashing the Glass. I write the blog SilverSpoon London, which focuses on luxurious London lifestyle, food and travel…if you get a moment I’d love for you take a look for some honeymoon inspiration!
Last year I was a Jewish bride myself and I loved looking to Karen’s blog for inspiration on how to break the mould for my wedding. Though my wedding preparation is all over I was thrilled when Karen asked me to pop along to the Herve Leger wedding dress preview on her behalf! Like Karen, I’m a huge fan of the designer and I must admit to having several of the multi-coloured bandage dresses filling my wardrobe.
Herve Leger’s signature body-con look may not a be your typical princess dress but who wants to be the same as everyone else? I love the idea of stepping even further outside the box and moving away from white into pinks, silvers and even metallics for the big day…
Actually, I thought these dresses would be perfect for a destination wedding. After all if you’re getting married in Israel, masses of tulle, chiffon and silk isn’t exactly ideal in the hot weather.
When my sister-in-law got married in Israel, she had to book an extra seat on the plane for her big dress. This wouldn’t be a worry as the Herve Leger dress is practical as well as beautiful and it can be easily rolled up and packed in a suitcase, no creases…no worries!
Despite being so fitted and figure enhancing, the Herve Leger dresses were incredibly elegant and stylish whilst still being sexy. The dresses are also ideal for a bride looking for a high-end designer without a couture price tag or for someone who doesn’t have time for lots of alterations.
And for something really different and daring, I loved the short dresses, especially this one with the peplum, which I think would look perfect with some brightly coloured heels. Alternatively the short white haute dresses would make the ideal outfit for a rehearsal dinner, going away dress or for a stylish bridesmaid.
Also showcased at the preview were the beautiful creations of London-based milliner, Gina Foster. Gina designs bespoke hats and fascinators for all occasions and every hat is handmade using the highest quality material.
The glamorous Aruna Seth shoes finished the chic bridal-look perfectly and I adored these jewelled butterfly shoes available in both silk and lace. Aruna has become acclaimed for the attention to detail put into her shoes which are designed to give the illusion of longer legs whilst maintaining comfort. Who could ask for more of a wedding shoe?
The Herve Leger boutique in Lowndes Road is perfect place to go wedding dress shopping too. The shop has a large basement show room with big changing rooms and it is elegantly appointed in neutral colours, mirrored furnishings, and plush sofas. Champagne is always at the ready too, of course!
And best of all after you’ve chosen your wedding dress, you can pick up one or two pieces to wear on your honeymoon too!
