Lee Petra Grebenau — whimsical. My sister was walking by MacDougal street and told me that I needed to go into that store. I had made appointments everywhere and finally found this dress.
I knew it was the one because of the flowers and just the energy. I love beading and embellishment and this dress had it all.”
Lee Petra Grebenau designed me my two wedding dresses. The first dress was a very special dress. It had a see-through skirt — very sexy but so classic.
The second dress Lee designed for me for the wedding party: open back and feathers at the bottom of the dress.”
I first saw Lee’s dresses on Pinterest and instantly felt I should try them on. I found Truly Enamoured was having one of her trunk shows and tried a few of Lee’s dresses and I immediately fell in love with her craftsmanship, her attention to every little detail and her touch of femininity in the dresses she designed.
I took my time and tried on more dresses in Singapore and in Los Angeles. After all the search I couldn’t find any other designer and dress that truly felt like “me” and that would compliment my body type more than Lee’s dresses.
I tried on the Sansa and Bella dresses but couldn’t pick one for the longest time and finally decided to create a dress based on both designs at the last minute. I spoke with Lee on the phone and described to her what I wanted and what my dreams were.. She sent me beautiful sketches and I gave her my approval. It seemed so easy because Lee really listened and understood what I wished for, and for that I’m forever grateful I picked her.”
I first saw the LPG Arielle dress online and fell in love so much that I was ready to book a flight to Montreal to try on this dress. Before making that leap, I decided to check out the LPG Flagship in New
York, which happened to be a couple blocks away from my grad school. Giselle was so kind and patient and even though Arielle was not on hand, I fell in love all over again with every other dress.
Giselle mentioned that Lee herself would be in town in a couple of weeks which bought me some time to decide which dress I wanted. I had an epiphany on a run one morning and decided that as much as I loved the detailing on the bottom of the Ariel dress, I wanted a V-neck top like the Sansa. I mentioned this to Lee and within minutes she was measuring me for this custom dress.”
My favourite store was Powder Bride because I had seen the most beautiful dresses by LPG on their Instagram page, even before getting engaged. It took some time finding my dress because I needed one that checked a lot of boxes – it couldn’t be too heavy or something I would get hot in, but it also couldn’t be too casual as our wedding was black tie. Thankfully Lee Grebenau did a trunk show at Powder where I tried on the Bella dress.
I knew immediately I had found the right dress as it was so light and airy without sacrificing any of the drama or couture details. I loved how Grecian it looked with all the intricate beading which reminded me of laurel leaves… It’s also a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of the dress and its beading as I don’t think a single bead fell off the entire evening, even post a donkey ride!”
