Shir Jewish Music

Visit Website Contact Features on STG

Shir has been bringing musical joy to brides, grooms, their families and guests for 20 years all over the UK and Europe.

We make sure that your wedding day is a truly special experience filled with love and “ruach” (Jewish spirit).

From the moment we welcome your guests with atmospheric pre-Chuppah music, through the Procession and ceremony, the “smashing of the glass”, the Reception, to the first set of Simcha dancing, through dinner and more dancing, we accompany you all the way with beautifully played, tasteful and uplifting music.

The Chuppah ceremony is the most important part of your event – you choose your processional songs for us to play, and we accompany the Rabbi/Chazan or provide Chazzanut ourselves.

Our hoice of repertoire will be chosen specifically for you from a selection of traditional and modern Jewish music (Klezmer, Israeli, Sephardi, Ladino, Yiddish, Mizrahi).

Once the party starts you won’t want to stop dancing and if your guests don’t know what to do we’ll get on the floor and guide them through some led Israeli dancing. This is especially popular with non-Jewish guests who can feel a bit lost during the Simcha / Israeli dancing.

Working closely with top DJ team Max Marcus Events, Shir offer a “One Stop Shop” for music and all elements of your production and will advise and guide you through the planning process of your special day.

Past Couples' Comments

Wow wow wow!!! Thank YOU so much for making our wedding THE BEST wedding ever!!! The dance floor was soooo vibrant… Everyone is texting saying it was the warmest and funnest wedding ever!!!!

Shir totally made our wedding a success and you were able to bring my vision into reality!

Honestly I cannot thank you enough!!!!

- Ines & Andy, Sopwell House

Shir played for our wedding and were absolutely amazing!

They created a great atmosphere throughout from chuppah to the end of the night. The led Israeli dancing was a highlight and went down a storm with Jewish and non-Jewish guests alike.

I could not recommend them more for your next simcha!

- Kitty & Sam, Bevis Mark / Middle Temple

We were so delighted with Shir, who performed at our wedding in May 2023.

From the word go, Ivor was helpful, professional, fun to work with and took a huge interest in us as a couple as our guests so as to provide the perfect atmosphere. They played beautifully at the Chuppah, even accompanying Sheva Brachot, and their Israeli dancing music created a wonderful “ruach” in the room.

Between sets they also played lovely background music that was subtle enough that you could talk. Which was amazing.

Best of all, they went above and beyond to make sure our wedding ran smoothly and, without us even asking them to, coordinated with catering and the MC to ensure the night got back on track despite us falling significantly behind schedule.

10/10, the best Simcha band in London. Am recommending them to everyone I know.

- Benji & Miriam, North Mymms Park

I just wanted to thank you for the most extraordinary chuppah and simcha.

Knowing we were in the hands of such top professionals was the ultimate comfort in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding.

I don’t, though, think we could have ever imagined (or reasonably expected or requested) the beauty, creativity, joy and all-round musical genius that you brought to proceedings.

It wasn’t only the way you mastered the music for us walking on — ie converting the grit and gravel of Crucify your Mind into something light and romantic.

It was also your improvisation, including, most memorably for me, during the seventh Sheva Bracha, when you effortlessly joined in and helped elevate the bracha and indeed the whole event.

My dad, a lifelong violinist, was as stunned as we (less musical folk) were and are.

In essence, wow. We are amazed and eternally grateful to you for making our simcha the day it was.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.

- Gabriel & Beatrice, Barbican

We cannot recommend Shir more highly.

From our first meeting with Ivor, we amazed with the level of detail and passion he and all the Shir team bought to our event.

We were guided when we needed suggestions, listened to when we had special requests.

They liaised with our overseas wedding planners to take the stress away from us.

On the day itself everything was superb, from the most beautiful songs under the chuppah, simcha music, Tel Aviv vibe music and swing classics their energy kept on wowing all of us.

In fact, when Ivor heard that we didn’t have an MC he stepped into that role as well.

Ivor, Maurice and the whole band went above and beyond in making everything perfect.

- Samantha & Mark, Greece

5-stars – Shir Music was sensational!

We hired Ivor, Yoav and the group for our wedding and the music they provided for us on our Big Day was absolutely outstanding.

Our guests were a mixture of Jewish and non-Jewish and every single person in the room was up on their feet dancing. They led the most beautiful music during our service and cocktail hour, immediately followed by a dynamic and lively Hora and Israeli dance set.

The energy was electric! Working with Shir, you are also in very capable hands.

The team was flexible, organised and accommodating. Music plays such a big role in driving the atmosphere and I felt so grateful that Shir delivered the most beautiful vibe for our wedding.

Truly, we couldn’t have been happier and highly recommend their services for your next function!

- Chloe & Dillon, Sezincote House

Shir Music were wonderful and such an exciting part of our wedding. It was so special to have the songs that meant the most to us and classical henna music.

Ivor is so kind hearted and went above and beyond to help us with various elements before the wedding day and give us the time to discuss the music on many occasions to help us feel at ease.

Thank you for everything! We wish we could do it all over again!’

- Alissa & Daniel, Euridge Manor

One of the very best decisions we made over a weekend of so much love and celebration was to have Shir with us.

You guys were exceptional and there is no other word I can use to describe your input.

From the way you felt and led the guests to the point so many were dancing at the Shabbat dinner when we were not sure if any would, to the way your beautiful sounds filled the air by the chuppah and then following that with the dancing was simply awesome.

- Sadie & Ori, Cap Ferrat, France

You guys were amazing – thanks so much.

As always, you were so much more than a band – you were the lynchpins of the party.

I can’t wait to see you at the next Shir Simcha!

The amazing Shir are so much more than simply a Jewish music band – they bring an amazing joyful atmosphere to every party and get everyone dancing. Thank you.

The joy you guys bring to the community and beyond is something to be treasured”.

- Jacob Rich - Bar Mitzvah

Thank you SO MUCH for making our Simcha so special.  The music in the ceremony, in particular with Maurice’s beautiful singing, was so moving – many of our guests commented.

Also the party, as I’m sure you will agree, was wild and all thanks to you.  Moreover, thank you so much for saving the day when it started raining, and playing amazing music whilst people were enjoying their cocktails.  This was beyond the call of duty and made a huge difference to our day so again, huge thanks for this!

We look forward to sharing many more special occasions and Simchas with you all and wish you all the very best.”
