My husband and I would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team at Down Hall for throwing us the most unforgettable wedding day.
We instantly fell in love with the venue from the minute we walked in but were conscious that Down Hall had only had a few Jewish weddings prior to ours. The entire team were however so accommodating and considerate in helping us to plan our special day and ensure we had everything we wanted including a chuppah, Israeli dancing, hermolis meals served and hamotzi. Nothing was ever too much of an ask or too complicated; they were polite, efficient and helpful in responding to emails, calls and were so patient with our endless questions! Annalise and Zoe always made the effort to come and say hello when we visited, even if we hadn’t arranged a meeting with them and would always do what they could to facilitate any requests we had.
We had so much to check in and carry when we arrived at the venue the day before our wedding but the whole process ran smoothly and was totally stress free! The team at Reception were expecting us and were ready to help us unload the car and answer any questions. We had booked a table in the restaurant for dinner that evening and had such an enjoyable delicious meal with our close family which was the perfect way for us to start our weekend. The staff in the Fox Bar were attentive and made us feel very welcome.
On the day itself, everything ran like clockwork from start to finish; the team at Down Hall arrived early and were there to assist us and keep us calm! It was clear that everyone knew the itinerary and plans for the day which showed that there had been excellent communication with the team following our planning meetings with Annalise and Zoe. The ceremony and function room both looked stunning and exactly how we had envisaged they would be. The dinner was perfect and so well managed with the multiple sets of dancing and many dietary requirements including kosher hermolis meals. The catering team even doublechecked dietary requirements in person before food was served, a lovely special touch that we didn’t request but something that was very much appreciated by our guests who have mentioned it to us since.
We had asked for a separate breakfast area for our guests staying over after the wedding. The breakfast buffet and tables were all set up beautifully and once again, the hotel accommodated for our specific dietary requests by making slight changes to the usual breakfast options. This was a really wonderful way for us to enjoy time with close family and friends the next morning and some of our guests were excited to then make good use of the spa and padel tennis facilities!
It isn’t cliche to say our wedding day would not have been as special if it weren’t for the team at Down Hall and we could not recommend them highly enough if you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue and excellent staff close to Hertfordshire or Essex.”
